So, the Dbacks are going to REALLY be a .500 team. Literally winning one game, and losing the next game. Tonight I expect a win.

Looking at improving this team, we have some hitters. Maybe just need to pick up some mid level pitchers for the 4 and 5 spot in the rotation? Move those guys there now to bolster the bull pen?

Torey setting up the line up. Who's our slowest guy? Jones? Yeah, let's puts him at lead off.

OMG! Three straight strike outs! Stranding 2.

We had the shift on for the first two batters, and they get a hit in the hole caused by the shift. Then get a double play ball and have to settle for one because of the shift!

It's because Dyson isn't starting. Obviously Dyson would lead off if he was starting.
Not so! For the first two games, Jones led off with Dyson batting second.

Today Jones is leading off, with Locastro (another traditional leadoff hitter) in the lineup.

The only thing obvious is that the manager does not use logic.

Although Jones has two walks and a single in his first three at-bats today, before reaching
on an error in the 7th. Following an 0-for-10 in the first two games.

Escobar drives in the first run of the game. 1-0 D-backs with runners left on 1st & 2nd.

A walk and two singles start the 8th for the D-backs. Bases loaded.

Now one out and Vargas batting for Greinke. A single and an error
and the D-backs lead 3-0. The Giants are throwing away the game.

Runners on 2nd & 3rd with one out. And Jones singles in a run.
He has come through tonight.

Melancon, the Giants pitcher, is not in control. Or the defense.
And a double play ends the inning. 4-0.

Our two dependable closers, Lopez and Holland, are ready for
the 8th and 9th. Or maybe not Holland with a 4-run lead.

Vargas comes through. (I was nervous about that decision, as I thought Greinke had at least one more good inning left, and he handles the bat better than Vargas.)

I guess it's Lopez in the 8th and Holland in the 9th?

Agreed. Greinke should have hit

Lopez walks the leadoff hitter on a full count.

And walks another with one out.

As Steve commented, he does not look smooth.

Chafin coming in to face the two lefties.

Yoshi is throwing in the bullpen.

Really should have kept Greinke in...
He was at 90 pitches after seven innings with good relievers in the bullpen.

The decision could have gone either way. You know that in today's MLB,
starting pitchers are counted on to go 7 innings.

Chafin leaves the two runners on base. Still 4-0 D-backs going to the top of the 9th.

And now to the bottom of the 9th.
