Every year, there are a handful of NFL Draft prospects that are seemingly impossible to project where or when they land in the selection process. One of the most notorious examples for 2025, at least to this point in the draft cycle, is Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams.

Recent mock drafts project Williams all over the place, from the top 10 overall to outside the first round. A small but representative sampling of where Williams has been projected in recent mocks from more prominent outlets:

Bucky Brooks, NFL.com - No. 7 to the New York Jets

The Athletic's beat writers mock draft - No. 8 to Carolina

Charles Davis, NFL.com - No. 8 to Carolina

Curt Popejoy, Draft Wire - No. 9 to New Orleans

Mel Kiper, ESPN - No. 10 to Chicago

Danny Kelly, The Ringer - No. 11 to San Francisco

Chris Trapasso, CBS Sports - No. 15 to Atlanta

33rd team - No. 19 to Tampa Bay

Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports - No. 23 to Green Bay

PFF's John Kosko - No. 23 to Green Bay

Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network - No. 28 to Detroit

Ourlads Scouting - No. 28 to Detroit

Bleacher Report - No. 28 to Detroit

PFF's Trevor Sikkema - Not in the first round

According to the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus mocks, the most popular landing spot from the projections they track is No. 23 to the Packers.

The primary reason for the wide range of projections is the gap between the athletic potential that is overflowing from Williams and what he's actually done with it on the field for the Bulldogs. Some of that relatively meager production (5 sacks, 8.5 TFLs in 13 games last season) is due to a lingering ankle injury, as well as a talented cast around Williams. But he's also not shown a lot of technical prowess or consistency to his game, and that football rawness leaves him subject to wide interpretations of how the NFL will view Mykel Williams.
