The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team has ascended the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll after a 3-1 week. Georgia baseball is now ranked No. 5.
Georgia won two out of three games at home against the previously No. 1 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend. Georgia clinched the series thanks to a 12th inning walk-off home run from Henry Hunter.
Georgia (32-6) is off to the best 38-game start in school history. The Bulldogs bounced back well last week after the new No. 1 Texas Longhorns swept them in their previous series.
Despite being the No. 5 team in the nation, Georgia is the fourth-highest ranked team in the SEC. The Bulldogs trail No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Arkansas, the No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 4 Clemson Tigers.
"Arkansas is a really, really good team," said Georgia baseball manager Wes Johnson after UGA won the series over Arkansas. "For us to sit here and battle at home, you need to play these kind of games at home, and it's good. That's how you can rebound and not fall victim to getting swept. Our crowd was really good, that helps. You just have to go out and play solid baseball, and we did."
Next for Georgia is No. 13 Georgia Tech (27-9). The in-state rivals play in Truist Park (home of the Atlanta Braves) in their only meeting all season on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
