The Mavericks, who blew a nine-point lead in the final 3:43 of their 121-118 Game 1 loss Wednesday, opted to aggressively defend two-time league MVP Steve Nash in the fourth quarter and played strong defense overall down the stretch in Friday's 105-98 win that squared the series.
Is it just me or anyone else is getting tired of this crap about Dallas' improved D? Their transition D was little bit better but overall nothing like these sports writers are touting about. It was us missing open shots more than their defense.

Diop, perhaps disappointed from being a spectator in Game 1, provided a defensive presence the Mavericks sorely missed in the series opener. He helped slow Suns center Boris Diaw, who had 25 points after scoring 34 -- including the go-ahead basket -- in Game 1.
Huh??? Hello! If 25 pts is slowing Diaw down, I would like to have a slowed down Diaw every night! They expect him to have 34 pts every night???

Their trans D was defenitely better but thats it. Nash passed on too many shots down the stretch and we missed nearly every shot it seemed. Every time Nash penetrated in the 4th he passed as opposed to knocking down his usual floaters or getting fouled

The day after a Suns win, it's awalys what the other team didn't do rather than what the Suns did and that's the way it's always been for the most part, we did get the respect in the Barkley years but not much more. As one of the elite teams in nba We shouldn't be treated that way.

I don't know what you are talking about I thought the Mavs D especially the defensive intensity of Joey Crawford was excellent in game 2.

Almost!!!!!!! Only 32 points short!! Ouch!! The MAvs D is much better than it was with Nash that is a fact. It still isn't great, but they score enough to overcome those shortcomings.

no kidding. They are doing a great job of getting back on defense, and it bothers me to no end to hear coaches, players, and fans complain about the Phoenix Suns players not pushing the ball like they should. They can't. They aren't getting turnovers which lead to fast-break points, and the Mavericks are getting back on defense every time.

The Phoenix Suns can increase their effort on the fast break all they want. As long as Dallas doesn't suffer a letdown they aren't going to get any more fast-break points that they did in Game 3. They need to increase their efforts defensively and especially on the boards.

I agree here, but I also feel the Suns have blown a ton of uncontested shots. I think the whole team needs to attend layup camp this summer.

But they can still move on offense as well, even in a half-court game. Having the break shut down is no excuse for standing rooted to the floor.

The only complaint I have is that the refs seem to have been letting the Mavs get away with banging us a bit inside because we aren't an "inside" team...so Diaw gets no calls, etc.

But other than that...Dallas is the better team right now, hands down...especially with no Raja, Kurt or Amare.

We are not playing our game. Too much 1 on 1, standing around, not good spacing, no hustle. All these things have nothing to do with Dallas' defense. Yes, their defense has been better, but we are not doing the things that make us successful. Even with all these, we still have been in all the games. So, a little bit of hustle, extra rebounds, steals, can change the outcome of the game even if we are not scoring 120 pts.
