Giants DFA right-hander Dereck Rodriguez, call up Joey Rickard

Just two years after he was a Rookie of the Year candidate and breakout star for the Giants, Dereck Rodriguez's time with the organization could be over. The Giants designated Rodriguez for assignment on Wednesday afternoon, opening up a roster spot for Joey Rickard, who adds a right-handed bat and solid defense to the outfield. They cleared a spot on the active roster by sending struggling right-hander Shaun Anderson to the alternate site in Sacramento.
