Giants right-hander Matt Cain has gone on the 15-day disabled list with irritation in his pitching elbow and received a cortisone injection to help it calm down. San Francisco recalled rookie Chris Heston (11-7), who will pitch Sunday against St. Louis after getting a short break in the minors to rest. The move with Cain was made Friday and was retroactive to Wednesday.
