OTTUMWA — Jordan Lee has some company this season when it comes to being Ottumwa's 'queen of the tiebreakers.'
Nellie Morgan, Emerson Keith and Ava Barnes have all played multiple tiebreakers in singles play so far this season. Madalynn Sertterh, Hunter Caldwell, Ashlyn Hough and Jenna Linsted have also played in tiebreakers during doubles competition for the Bulldogs.
Lee, however, proved one more why she is the 'queen of the tiebreakers' on Thursday against Des Moines Lincoln. The Ottumwa junior earned her 11th different win in 13 tiebreakers over the past two seasons against Lincoln senior Brooke White, scoring the final three points in the No. 2 singles match to complete a singles sweep for the Bulldogs clinching a 9-2 Iowa Alliance Conference south division victory over the Railsplitters at Dan Staggs Family Courts.
The victory stood out as the only dual so far this season not decided by a 6-5 score. Ottumwa fell just short at Ankeny despite winning three third-set super-tiebreakers including a 10-8 win by Morgan over Lilith Francel in the top singles match and a 13-11 win earned by Linsted over Satviki Gorrela in No. 5 singles play.
Ottumwa (2-2, 1-1 Iowa Alliance) heads to Marshalltown on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
