The Coyotes are expected to announce during today's season finale that they will host the 2006 NHL All-Star weekend at Glendale Arena.

The team released a statement Friday that promised a major announcement after the first period of today's Fan Appreciation Day game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Tom Zenner of channel 12 sports and KDUS 1PM-3PM show broke the news last night on the 6PM show. Good news for the Coyotes and the city of Glendale.

What I wanna know is this. If the reports I hear about a lockout next season are true, will they just cancel the city for the 2005 game? Or will they push it back to 2006, thus pushing us back to 2007?

Looks like Glendale will still have the 2006 game.

The impending NHL labor stoppage - the collective bargaining agreement between the players and owners is set to expire Sept. 15 - likely will not affect the Valley's position as host. It has been guaranteed the rights to the 2006 game, even if the 2005 event in Atlanta is wiped out because of the labor situation.

More like he tripped over it or someone dropped it in his lap.
