It should be that Godley determines that by his performance. Dumb move

I don't get this move... I heard something about a concern over his innings pitched. But that makes no sense as he's gonna keep pitching in AA.
And Webster? Gotta be kidding me!!!!
Anderson is due to come back soon, so there was definitely a spot to open up for him, unless they went to a 6 man rotation - which has its' merits. But Webster??? Good Lord... :bang:

I think Chip owes the fans an explanation.

I also see that it is Chip, and not his Pitching Coach, who has been making trips to the mound recently without taking the pitcher out. That's a change from the tradition of sending his Pitching Coach!

I posted an opinion some time ago that Mike Harkey (whose previous experience was that of a bullpen coach in the American League) has shown himself to be marginal at best.

I am just not impressed with the way he talked at his Pitchers when he was making the trips to the mound. Perhaps that is why he is no longer doing it.

And I am not impressed with the tone of his comments in interviews. If he can't motivate the fans, how can he motivate million dollar ballplayers?

Stupid freaking move. You go with what works. Chip Hale is becoming another Kirk Gibson. Let's see, 3-0, good WHIP, good ERA, let's send him down for someone who hit it in the past. FAIL.

I somewhat understand the innings pitched approach, but now?

3 starts, 3 wins 1.50 ERA. Maybe see a little more of him and send him back after a couple more starts here.

Also, I thought the 6 man rotation was a good idea to prepare Corbin for next year without stressing him.

Maybe is was Webster's 7.11 ERA ha

They needed another reliever after last night. LaRussa said they had a decision to make today and it wasn't something they wanted to do, it was something they had to do.
He said he was hesitant to go with a six man rotation because that took a pitcher out of the pen.

This is a failure of epic proportions of not knowing what they have. They burned his innings in the minors before he got a chance, then he killed it when he got here.

Godley pitched out of the bullpen his first two seasons prior to being switched to a starters role this year. His inning count was 26 in 2013 and 55 in 2014. He is at 107 innings and counting.

At least they know that he can get hitters out on the major league level before they had to shut him down.

I'm not sure if he is shut down. I understand the innings pitched and the reason the DBacks brought up a reliever (too many innings by our bullpen). Instead of Webster, I would like to have seen Godley in that role as he has the ability to get a lot of ground balls. Chase is scheduled to start this weekend anyway. Hopefully, he has returned to form.
