I read that God is going to have improved superpowers, they're adding team members and they're even going to do the origin story in this one. :p

Isn't this movie based on true events?

This was filmed in Little Rock. My guess is that's it's only redeeming quality.

I highly doubt it's based upon anything involving facts.

Iceman asked if it was based upon true events.

The movie itself could actually be based upon actual events without lending any credence to the possible existence of a God.....unexplainable events happen some times... those with faith choose to believe it was due to divine intervention...others just go,.."wow,...that was ****in weird dude"

Sure, but this movie isn't about unexplained or potential supernatural events. It's a courtroom drama about a persecuted Christian teacher and the evil atheists ACLU.

My wife & I went to see it today...

We cried...A lot!

A line stayed with me afterwards....Atheism can't take away the pain but it can take away hope.

Have a GREAT day!

Mark :)

In the end credits they listed...

about 15-20 court cases that have taken place regarding this subject. So, I guess that puts it in the current-events category.

Hmmm, and apparently,...based on actual events...

NSD thinks a new Mississippi Law was about preventing churches from being forced to perform gay weddings.

I would not take his comment as gold. What specific case was this based upon?

No specific case. Inspired by multiple cases.

‘God’s Not Dead 2’ Was Inspired By Real Court Cases

http://www.inquisitr.com/2947139/go...ired-by-real-court-cases/#MymWx0tiPlu3B4yw.99

During the closing credits of God’s Not Dead 2, 25 different cases are scrolled, including the following.

* A case where two students at Georgia Institute of Technology were told to discontinue holding conservative and religious events on school grounds.

* A case where a Christian student at the Los Angeles Community College shared his belief in a speech class that he believes that marriage is between one man and one woman and the professor interrupted the speech calling him a “fascist.”

* A case at Superior Street Elementary School where a student with cerebral palsy wanted to dance in the school talent show but was denied because the song she chose was too religious.

“I like bringing attention to the argument that rages on about the separation of church and state,” actor Jesse Metcalfe said, who recently made headlines by stating that he himself found God while fighting alcoholism in 2007. “I think that’s really interesting, that there are some great points on both sides of the argument. At the end of the day, the message of the movie is really freedom to believe as you wish to believe and not being too rigid in controlling how people express themselves. I think that’s the foundation of our country and what makes our country great.”

Absolutely agree w/ Brian...

What a person believes is up to them... and their belief...whatever it may be...should be respected.

I strongly disagree. As long as you keep it to yourself and don't harm others with your beliefs, then I can respect your beliefs.

Are we supposed to respect Christian Science practitioners and followers who neglect their children by withholding medical care in favor of hopes and prayers?

How about Muslims who believe women have no rights and should be forced to walk around in a bag or that little girls should not be allowed to go school and get an education. Do you respect them?

I imagine your idea of respect would be to allow your particular flavor of Christianity to control public policy and to teach the "good news" in public school.

P.S. God's not Dead... he's never existed.

Maybe for you. I have plenty of hope and happiness without a Deity. Not everyone works the same sir.

+1

I am for religious freedoms but
and their belief...whatever it may be...should be respected.
I do not agree with as every faith and belief are not determined by the good of man. IE: Westboro baptist church. Although they harm no one so they do not bother me, people with similar views get elected and try to legislate their faith and beliefs and that is a problem.

Let me clarify here...

"Respect" in the sense that you acknowledge that this is what someone sincerely believes. That DOES NOT mean I agree with what they believe. FOLSTER made some excellent points. When I had quadruple-bypass back in 2012 did I refuse to let the doctors "cut" me because of my beliefs? Of course. not. I did however believe that God would either help me to recover and get on with my life or He'd take me "home." Either way I was at peace about it.

As for God NOT existing? The very 1st line of scripture says...In the beginning God....

If someone has trouble with that initial premise then the rest of the book will make no sense at all.

I know we're in a political-year and everyone is watching things very closely.

As for my particular "flavor"? God says...If you do not have righteous (ie; fair) government then you will have unrighteous government.

When you look at Washington today what do you really see?

Whatever we see in front of us has "reasons" behind it of how it got that way.

Take Care!

Hey! BigRedRage...

Completely respect your take on things. I think "choice" is one of the great things in life. Especially, "choosing" say, the Cardinals OVER the Cowboys! :D

I respect you Mark, for your conviction and just for being a genuinely honest guy. The part about if you dont have a righteous govt, it is unrighteous, would that really matter? Do you honestly feel that without belief in god, morals would go away? I mean, morals are no part of the islamic state and they are sure righteous.

I am a firm believer that good can and will prevail and righteousness has nothing to do with it. It helps some, hinders others but is not the secret answer to everything.

I do not and will not respect the beliefs of Sharia law religions and if there are religions that cannot be trusted and respected, then why must we have religions in general. Fairness and righteousness are in the eye of the beholder. It is not the book itself that crates morals and just thinking along with helping others, it is the soul inside.

My wife and I watched the first movie and hated it. The first one came off as preachy, condescending, heavy handed and badly acted. Being Christian but not die hard religious we were curious. It wasn't a good movie. If the film makers were trying to create some advocacy for Christianity they failed miserable as I found myself feeling bad for those watching that were maybe not so religious.

A friend of mine watched this and said it's worse. So we are skipping even though once again I am a little curious.
