Any suggestions on something to do on Saturday afternoon? (besides freeze my arse off) We've got some time to kill after a tour of the brewery and I'm hoping some of you might have a suggestion or two.

If you are a Cardinal baseball fan you could tour the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum.

A good restaurant to eat at is Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood, but it is not cheap by any means.

I have never ate inside so I don't know if they have any Cardinal memorabilia on display inside the restaurant or not. I hear the food is really good, but it will put a sizable dent in your wallet.

Go down to St.Louis Brewery, they make the Schafly Beers, best beer in St. Louis bar none. The food is very good, you'll like it.

There's a cheap mass transit ride (train) from Laclede's Landing past Bush Stadium and into Union Station (a big mall) that continues on to the St Louis Zoo (which is free I believe). You get to see some of the city.... Spaghetti Factory is some good eating (and great atmosphere).

This is just me but I'd be at White Castle feasting on some melt in your mouth Cheese burgers.

If you have time, see the Arch, the Brewery, Get a steak at Stan and Biggies (Stan "The Man" Musial comes in a lot) and visit Baseball Cardinals Hall of Fame. Have a Great time, I love visiting St. Louis.

Take the metro east toward IL and spend some dough at the Casino Queen.

a 25 minute drive from the stadium is Alton and there is a great bar called Fast Eddies. Really cheep food and beer. Its a great place. Always packed!!

Make sure and get a Lion's Choice sandwich. Best roast beef you'll have anywhere, bar none! They are all over town. BBQ in East St. Louis is great, if you're into risking your life for pork. And the Arch shouldn't be missed, but make sure you have a few hours to wait in a weekend line and ride to the top and back (and check out the awesome film)

Thanks to all of you for the info. I was an invitee of the Cardinals, standing in for a buddy with a suite. Incredibly good time, and as we all know, great game. Not as exciting as this Sundays, but great game just the same.

We had several events planned for us, so free time wasn't that plentiful. Here's a brief recap:

-We did get to enjoy a nice meal at Dan Dierdorf and Jim Hart's place. Yes, it is pricey.
-A private tour of the AB brewery was awsome. The place is like a museum. The sheer size just amazes you.
-I couldn't ride in the arch. Those 'Woody Allen futuristic pods' aren't made for guys like me.
-Bars down by the ball park don't get hopping until about 11:00, but St. Louis does have some nice scenery.
-If you go to a real dive (I can't remember the name), somewhere downtown (not sure where I was), eat cheeseburgers (they could have been the best I've eaten....but I really don't remember tasting them), and have a 70 year old bartender named Athena (the crazy Greek) do shots of Jager with you then give you and a buddy a ride back to the hotel (running every freakin' stop light), then you were at the same place I was.
-Soulard. Go there. Experience it. If you like Blues, this is your place. About 40 venues in a 9 block area. But stay out of Clementine's, guys are pinching guy butt in that place....if you know what I'm sayin'.
-And yes, there is a White Castle on the way back to the Hilton from Soulard.
-Larry Wilson is the coolest old guy I've met. You ought to see the mits on that guy. Bring your best grip or he'll hurt you.
-Mark Grace is a sissy and can't drink beer. (Just kidding Grace, he was great to talk sports with).



Thanks again for all the advice. It's a fun place to visit, but no way would I want to live there. The Cards have some fantastic people working for them. Very impressive group.

A few years ago (2002) I went to St. Louis for the Sunday Night game that the Cards almost beat the Rams. Shipp broke a huge run that game and the Rams kicked a field goal at the end to win it.

Anyways, we went to Laclede's Landing and went to a place called "Show-Me's". This place was an utter rip off of Hooters (from the "uniforms" down to the menu). I still laugh about it every time I think of St. Louis.

Needless to say, I haven't made it back there and nor do I EVER plan too!!!
