Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has won the National League Silver Slugger award for his position

Goldschimdt hit .302/.401/.551 with 36 home runs and 125 RBI in 602 at-bats while also winning his first Gold Glove award. He's one of three finalists for the NL Most Valuable Player award. .338 with runners in scoring position en route to an NL-leading 125 RBI in 2013

Goldschmidt also led the NL in home runs (36), slugging percentage (.551) and OPS (.952).

Sorry McCutchen aint getting where Goldy has already been! Hopefully Braun won't get busted for doping Prior to McCutchen's rookie playoff run- and be allowed to stink up the freakin sport forever and a day - anyway.

15 more HR's, 41 more RBI's? really what the hell are they watching? Fielders picks in the HR derby? They value their own fantasy, not real numbers. I'm sick of these punks punking Arizona. I really am.

McCutchen, 27, hit .317/.404/.508 (158 OPS+) with 21 home runs, 27 stolen bases and 84 RBI this past season

:bang:

This is just more proof that We are forged in the flames of adversity- We have already ate, digested and crapped out more adversity than other cities fans could imagine!
I mean the Sun's ref playoff scandal, The Coyotes owned by the NHL BS, Ryan Braun busted for steroids prior to taking that game and playoff series away from rookie Goldsmith, and Kurt Warner being target and retired by the Saints Bounty scandal!

No other State or City has ever endured these cheating bass turds in all sports- I hope the rest of the world pukes on it!

Pro sports- these dogs don't hunt! they are bottom feeders.

all about the playoffs. its the most VALUABLE player, not the BEST player. Goldschmidt had one hell of a year, and he was rewarded rightfully so for it, getting the silver slugger, hank aaron award, and a gold glove. btw he finshed 2nd in the mvp race. not a bad season.

24 out of the last 30 mvp winners were on playoff teams too. you have to break records to win it and not be on a playoff team, on top of that play in a year where the competition is weak.

McCutchen led his team to the playoffs, Goldshmidt did not. Had he, the MVP probably would have been different.

McCtuchen had a great season offensively, while playing great defense. Take him off the Pirate and they probably wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Sorry, this playoff bs is bunk. AM had a lot of help getting there. He did not do it by himself. Goldy did all he could do. It is not his fault many of the DBacks sucked, he was head and shoulders above everyone else. I'm happy for AM but they should rename it to "my teams made the playoffs" instead of MVP. You can only control so much.

As a D'backs fan and a Goldy fan and a guy whose favorite position is 1B , I would have been thrilled if he had won the NL MVP. But in addition to being an idealist, I try to be a realist.

The MVP award is not for the best stats (Goldy won the Silver Slugger). Nor is it for the most valuable player on his team. It is for the player who was most valuable out of all National League teams in 2013.

For him to take the next step, it is up to the GM to produce a cleanup hitter, so Goldy won't be pitched around with runners on base, now more than ever.

And it is up to his manager to (as I've said before) decide on a set lineup coming out of Spring Training so the D'backs won't tumble in the standings once again as the season progresses.

Meanwhile, in his breakout year, Goldy has established himself as the second most valuable player in the whole NL from coast to coast. 'Pretty damn good! Now let's see him get the support to reach the next step. That is up to team management.

I know what you are saying is true. But if you switch Goldy and AM, the Pirates still make the playoffs, the DBacks don't, and based on the award reasoning, Goldy wins the MVP. It is that simple. The Dodgers' historic run really hurt Goldy's chances. But again, AM is a fantastic player and deserving.
