Got halfway through it but then the stupid movie theater caught on fire. Just after the scene with the house raid!!

Gotta finish it soon, I was into it.

pretty good movie. solid twist - even better realities of the resolution. truly no "happy endings" for anyone.

So is this Mystic River 2?

it definitely has the same feel to it.

but holy crap is almost everyone in the movie besides the main characters are about the ugliest people i've ever seen on the screen. I mean REALLY ugly.

Just watched it. Pretty damned good. Hated the end though.

Damn if Ed Harris isn't one of the best actors of our time.

Okay, so I have this movie and was going to watch it. BUT, I was told that this is a sequel to Mystic River. I've never seen Mystic River. So, help a girl out ... what do I watch first?

LOL

It's not a sequel at all, it's just written by the same guy.

Outfrigginstanding movie. It really gets to you with its bite into reality. I've met and known people just like every character in the movie. And like real life often is, no winners, and the "least loser" is a scumbagette.

5 out of 5 stars

The wife and I really enjoyed this one. She didn't like the ending...but, I think it's the only ending that could hold true for the character.

I thought the ending was kind of like, if you do things just on principal, regardless of the actual outcome, be prepared to suffer the consequences. ;)

Casey A is good. The rest not so much. Seemed like and episode of Law and Order or something.

1) How did Casey A. get to be a "private detective? Was he an ex-cop? Military? Or just a guy in the neighborhood?
2) His botoxed girlfriend added little more than a love interest and a vehicle for "Law and Order" conflict and dialogue.
3) The plot starting with the uncle and Ed Harriswas totally unbelievable to me.
4) The whole thing stunk of contrived Hollywood tricks to play on base emotions.

Sorry for the vent. I was worried from the start when I saw Ben Affleck co-wrote the screenplay.

Recently watched it. I totally agree. The ending was tough, it had me going back and forth several times.

Saw this one last night. I enjoyed it. The casting was superb, particularly with the smaller bit characters. Instead of casting familiar character actors and asking them to play trashy, they cast unknowns who really looked and felt the part. I felt like I was in south Boston.

The plot devices were irrelevant, and that's OK. It made some turns I anticipated, but I cared much more for the journey Casey Affleck's character was being dragged into -- and his conscience was doing all the dragging. That's the primary objective of any movie or play and on that instance I gave Ben Affleck's writing/directing two big thumbs way up.

Side note on Ben Affleck: I have always felt he should give up acting (he's awful) and stick to writing, which I think he could prove he's one of the more talented guys out there. He's smart and has an ear for dialogue.
