I read the book a few months back; the book was very entertaining.

It's one of those narratives that just when you think you've figured it out, the writer changes the game completely.

From what I've read, the movie will be different than the book. I hope so, because I doubt it could be pulled off well on screen. Worth reading if you're looking for something to read.

Just finished the book. I like it, but the structure may be really hard to translate to film. Like, really hard.

haven't read the book, but the guy made an incredible movie...about the making of facebook. Whatever the structure may be, in Fincher I trust.

Structure:

Not spoilery on the details, but better safe than sorry.

chapters alternate pov's. First one is the husband's perspective in present day. Second is the wife's flashbacks via her diary. Third chapter is back to him, etc. Then the two perspectives inform each other while she catches up to his timeline. Genius for reading. Harder to do in film.

If he pulls it off, which I know he will, it will just solidify his status as the best director working today.

Not so sure that movie was incredible. It was fine, but incredible?

Going to see it tonight. The reviews are really solid for this one. It is apparently the last Fincher movie we will get for a while. He is going to direct the entire first season of the HBS series "Utopia" (not to be confused with the FOX show of the same name).

I am really excited about this one.

It looks worse every time I see the commercial. Would rather ride in a car with Matthew McConachey (sp?) talking for two hours.

Whatever they show on the commercials? Ben Aflac?

p.S I hate most movies.

Gotcha.

I actually like the previews because they did a great job setting up the movie without giving everything away. Seems like most trailers these days spoil the movie's plot before it ever comes out.

I want to see it. Haven't read the book, but In Fincher I Trust. :D

I do laugh every time I hear it marketed as "The date night of the decade."

Uh, okay. "Hey, sweetie - do you want to go and see a movie about a toxic marriage? The pregnant wife goes missing and the husband becomes a person of interest. Sound good to you? It's a date?"

Before Guardians of the Galaxy came out, the tag line was, "you're welcome".

Maybe sarcasm is the new trend?

It is a quote from Peter Traver of Rolling Stone. Here is the full quote:

The date night movie of the decade for couples who've always dreamed of destroying each other.

I can't decide if the trailer intentionally misleads because of a money grab or because it is the greatest practical joke on audiences ever???
