<< The injury is similar to what St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols played with the entire 2003 season. >>

If Gonzo can approach Pujols' 2003 numbers, we can live with that

If Gonzo misses thenext season the Diamondbacks can kiss their hopes for returning to the postseason goodbye.

I guess Gonzo is going to try to rehabilitate it without surgery, as did Pujols.

What about moving Luis to 1B, where he can flip or sidearm his throws?

That would allow Hillenbrand to settle in at one position at 3B.

With a healthy Bautista and a power-capable guy in RF and LF, we'd be OK at the corners.

(I'd still like to see Hillenbrand batting 3rd in the batting order, in front of Gonzo.)

How would this lineup sound?

FINLEY..............CF
CINTRON..........SS
HILLENBRAND...3B
GONZO.............1B
WALKER............RF
BAUTISTA..........LF
COUNSELL........2B
HAMMOCK..........C

How about a lineup like this

1b- Hillenbrad
2b- Spivey
2b- Kata
SS- Cintron
C- Moeller
LF- Gonzo
CF- Finley
RF- Hammock

Then Lineup

Kata
Spivey
Cintron
Gonzo
Finley
Hillenbrad
Hammock
Moeller
PITCHER

That is a ok lineup. I cant imagine Gonzalez at 1b. He just doesnt seem like he has that good of a glove.

He probably wouldn't be much worse than Hillenbrand. That said there's no way they'd put him at first

Even if it keeps Gonzo's 100+ RBI's in the lineup?

Actually, I read that Gonzo's injury is worse than Pujol's - he had a grade 1 and this is a grade 2 tear. We've seen in the past how well "rehabbing-not-surgery" works for this team - not... And Pujols is a good bit younger than Gonzo, and younger bodies tend to recover faster. This whole thing makes me very uneasy. We won't know till January if the rehab worked. Surgery keeps him out nine months - well, do it now and we get him back around the ASB. Do it in January, and he'll be able to comfortably lift a beer while watching other NL teams in the playoffs.

With the uncertainty of Gonzo playing next year I would not be surprised if jerry signs Mondesi. I hope someone talks to Gonzo and he has surgery so he could at least play next year.
