It just sounds wrong, and what are the Chargers going to do with those awesome powder blue uniforms? if they change their names.

Khan just put in a $250 million upgrades including a huge scoreboard in the Jacksonville stadium with city backing. Do not think he is going to move the team?

Why not just move the Jags to LA and keep the Chargers in SD?

You don't deal with really, really, really rich people much do you ?

If it is not complicated how can they put their names on it. Your way would be too simple. Its gotta be complex and poorly thought out.

Only frugal people take the time to do things efficiently.

Will Khan still want his Chargers playing in London every year for a gazillion years if they play in San Diego? That would be a nightmare for that team. +3 more hours time difference and +3000 or so miles more travel each way. Ugh.

I really don't understand this.

Teams possibly moving to LA:

Raiders
Rams
Chargers

So more than likely, it sounds as if the Chargers and Raiders are the ones to move to LA (Carson). St. L will more than likely get a new stadium.

Jacksonville is linked to a move to SD. Why then is the city of SD open to a stadium with the Jags rather than trying to work it out with the Chargers?

It doesn't make any sense.

Keep the Chargers in SD and move Jags to LA.

Or...Move Oakland to Carson. Move the Chargers to Carson. Move the Rams to SD. Move the Jags to St. L. Move the Cowboys to London.

Fine, whatever, NFL. The only thing that really bugs me is the owners taking the names and colors with them (especially since they'll probably sell the team down the road anyway).

I wish that Indianapolis had a new name and the Ravens were the Colts (not that the Ravens is a bad name).

I wish that Arizona had a new name and the Rams were the Cardinals (speaking objectively and not as a Cards fan here, and with the understanding that the Bidwills were founding owners in Chicago).

I wish the Rams name would be available to any new or relocated LA team (even if they were the Cleveland Rams first).

I hope if the Jaguars moved to San Diego, they'd become the Chargers (I realize that the Chargers would actually be moving back to LA, but I think SD has the stronger claim now).

My only exception is that the Raiders stay the Raiders no matter where they go. Because they have no respect.

Nobody is moving their team to Carson. That plan is a buffer to block the Rams from getting enough votes to move to Inglewood and the Rams plan blocks the Raiders/Chargers from moving to Carson.

The city of SD is trying to negotiate a new stadium deal with an ownership that wants to leave for LA. This is why the Spanos family wants to build a stadium in Mission Valley, while the city wants to build downtown, revitalize the convention center and build near Petco.

The hotel industry doesnt want them down there without concessions, Spanos wants LA so they are pushing the stadium in MV, the Chargers and Raiders are trying to block the Rams move via Carson and the Rams blocking Carson via Inglewood.

In the end, the Rams and Raiders/Chargers are going to have to work towards an agreement. The site will be Inglewood, not Carson and we are in the last hour for the Chargers to stay in SD. They are all but gone, all they need is to come to an agreement with the Rams.

Very interesting. Despite claims to the contrary, especially the Raiders. $$$$.

not buying it. The stadium in Jacksonville isn't that old. They have a lease that can't be anywhere near up. This is all hogwash.

They have a lease until 2030 with the city of Jacksonville. If they break the lease it could cost the Jaguars up to $100M. That's really a small ammount considering their owner is one of the top 5 richest owners in the league. Plus San Diego could share some of the cost if they really wanted a team should the Chargers leave.

The Jacksonville market is one of the smallest in the league. Moving to a market like San Diego would be a huge upgrade from a revenue stand point.

Disagree. The only way to make up the money would be to move that team to LA.

In another world we do not visit... $250 million is chump change to Khan, especially if he thinks he can win it back with a huge profit add in California :)

Jacksonville is not going anywhere. A few years ago, LA was a possibility but, unless something unforeseen comes about, they are staying put. In fact, they'd be more likely to relocate to England than SD/LA these days.

I'm still trying to figure out why L.A is such a hot destination now?

Huge TV market? Ok.. I get this part.
Crappy fickle fans? Yes
The Rams and the Raiders already came and left, what's changed?

Rams and Raiders to LA. Chargers stay put and Jaguars move to St Louis. The NFL wouldn't even have to mess with the divisions.

Considering the way things look in St. Louis I think the Rams are already packed for LA. Unless there's an 11th hour offer from St. Louis to Kroenke that is so amazing that he can't refuse, I don't see the Rams staying.

Ultimately, I don't think Spanos wants to leave SD, especially to play 2nd fiddle and be a tenant. He's sure making threats but what he wants is a stadium in downtown SD, not to leave. I don't think it's a secret that SD is a prime location for a franchise and that it won't be any trouble for them to find a replacement for the Chargers so he's just pushing as hard as he can without actually burning any bridges.

I don't think the Raiders want to leave Oakland and that their pairing ploy with the Chargers was just that. Sure, Davis and Spanos have played nice-nice for the media but there's no way they want to share a venue. If it comes down to it and the Raiders have to make a choice, they could take San Antonio's relatively generous offer and have a place of their own so I don't see them actually going through with sharing a place.

Jaguars aren't moving to LA. That's media(blogger?) speculation. Their lease is iron-clad and I don't think Khan has the money to just do what he wants if he decides to go rogue. Kroenke is playing ball with the NFL and has designed the Inglewood project as "capable" of housing two teams but I think a lot of that is just for appearances and ultimately to just keep the LA leverage game going. Khan somehow forcing an unsanctioned move into that venue is very tough to imagine. Besides, why would Khan want to pay rent to Kroenke who torpedoed his purchase of the Rams?

Rams to LA, Chargers stay in SD, Raiders likely stay but San Antonio's the actual possible move, Jaguars stay but London is the outside possible move if anything.

St. Louis? I think they've handled things poorly yet again and wonder what the future holds for them. They seem to be playing the role of the Browns in this scenario. Everything they've done has been to show they are a viable NFL city more than to actually keep the Rams. A few years ago, the NFL was broaching the topic of expansion but that quickly got shelved because of the important contracts that were all imminent. I believe it was right at that time that the new tv contract, officials contract and CBA had to be dealt with. Then Ray Rice, deflate-gate and other things have come up.

Once the Rams, Chargers and Raiders are settled, 18 game seasons and expansion will both come back to the forefront IMO. The players will acquiesce to an 18 game schedule and/or expanded playoffs in favor of Goodell's power being scaled back or redefined and with the advent of so much guaranteed money being given out.

But, will expansion really happen again? I don't think it's out of the question and I think it's what the league wants. But will St. Louis be given such a nice slice of pie when they've done so poorly at retaining the teams that they've had?

I rightly could care less about who is moving where, when and how. It's all about money in the end and how to make the rich richer. The end.

Couldn't you say the same thing about the NFL overall and football in general?
