I remember in one of the preseason games this year, they called a play into the headset and I completely butchered the play in the huddle. There were guys running left and right and nobody knew what to do and I ended up turning around and handing the ball and nobody was blocking in the same direction the running back was running. I came over to the sideline and Coach Whisenhunt said, 'What did you call?' I told him what I called and he said, 'We can't run that play. That play doesn't make any sense.'

A: If you're overthinking it, you're going to fail. You have to be able to rely on your instincts and read and react. The key for me is learning everything I can before I step on the field and then it's all instinct really.

That was my favorite quote from it. This is the right approach, IMO. It is what the Leenart did not do. I think the prodigy of the USC learned it, but was afraid to go to instinct.

Dunno if Skelton will be successful, but he got his mind right.

It's also one of the myriad problems with DA. He never trusts his instincts on who is coming open and routinely waits waaaay too long to get rid of the ball.

RED Skelton

Thats why I don't like Whiz, Miller or Miller's approach. "battling for the start against Bartel" He needs less to worry about, not more right now. How can he play within himself and be yanked around by a chain like a dog at the same time.

look at the successful young QB's or any of them for that matter. Sanchez, Ryan, Flacco, Stafford, Bradford, they aint worring about Richard Bartel or anyone else in practice or on game day.

RED Skelton has DA skill sets but is very mobile for his size. He is a good nut let him grow.

If Skelton is that worried about Bartel to let if affect his performance, he doesn't belong in the NFL.

Does anyone think rookie Peyton Manning would have had a problem "competing" with some scrub just off the street?

No but i Wouldn't compare a consensus all American out of Tennessee who was a guaranteed top 5 pick to a 5th rounder from Fordham either.

Yes you did.
Nope, you just went classic kneejerk message board reaction. :)

I just asked a question. And so what if I want Skelton to have Peyton Manning's confidence....or moxie if you will.

Do you think Tom Brady was scared that he might be replaced by Bledsoe if he had a bad game his rookie year? Did the competition hurt him?

no

I don't think Peyton Manning or his coach ever had to worry about that, Playoffs! Playoffs, I just hope we can win another game!

it is just common football sense, aand this team lacks that, took on the personality of their coach. You know 2 QB system, 2 Offensive Coodinator system, 2 umm excuse me 3 win system.

Red Skelton has very close to Peyton Mannings tangibles. very close.

Yes you did. But I still agree with the premise of what you are saying.

Second year. Brady only threw three passes his rookie year.

Jim Mora

I thought Jim Mora was PM's first NFL Coach? May be wrong? after that meltdown year Tony Dungy took over.

anyhow who catches the Cardinals blame this year? PGC Mike Miller or QB coach Chris Miller. Russ Grimm as RGC, Billy Davis as DC, Whiz for hiring them? Graves for extending them with superpwers?

Whiz was the OC when Matt started and Kurt brang in the package in 2007. they were both broken when we signed Tim H and Tim R off the streets like Bartel.

What was it like Tim Rattay against Vinny Testaverde in the out back behind the outhouse bowl.

After Haley We went to Russ Grimm at RGC who sucks at it, and Mike Miller as Pass Game Coordinator, who sucks at it.

Hijacked

I'm talking about Skelton's interview and what he needs to succeed as a Cardinals back up QB of the future. Using Pm as example,

And wondering if getting rid of this PGC, RGC, QB coach, HC and GM would give Red Skelton the best chance to succeed in the NFL.

nevermind already, I'll just go sit on the Houston Bench till they figure it out.
