Ok, I know everyone mad about the 2 1st rounders being included. But, the Suns team is basically all young players. You want all young players? This draft is weak. If we drafted 3 1st rounders that would hold alot against our cap, and it would take years for them to develop. We have a great young core in Amare, Zarko, Lampe, Vulanic, and Barbosa. We need veteran help. If the Colangelo would have held on to them picks I would have compared him to Sterling(Clippers). Sterling likes to draft players and not renew contracts, all business for him, and making a profit. Jerry wants to win at all costs. The focus here is to get a good mix of young talent, which we have, and veterans. I'm excited about the future.

You seem to be missing the point of most complaints about the trade. We all understand that the Phoenix Suns probably did not want to draft more than one person this summer. Like you said, they are young and need veteran help more than another rookie. But those draft picks should be valuable in trades for players or to free up salary cap as opposed to saving money on the luxury tax. If the Phoenix Suns can't get a deal done to free up enough salary cap to make a run at Kobe Bryant all of us will be left wondering whether it would have been possible if we had the New York Knicks draft pick to sweeten the deal.

I said all along I wanted to trade the second pick - for something of value! The Suns could use the pick to move up in the draft, use it to clear cap space, or in exchange for future first round picks. (Heck, they could have just given the pick to the Spurs to close out the Barbosa deal).

The Googs deal save the Colangelos money but it took giving up valuable resouces to do so.
