Granville’s Mortimer, Newark duo earn All-Ohio girls basketball recognition

COLUMBUS — Three more Licking County girls were recognized among the state’s best Tuesday.

Newark teammates Calli Geller and Emma Quackenbush and Granville’s Elle Mortimer were awarded All-Ohio honors Tuesday by the Ohio Preps Sports Media Association.

Geller, a sophomore, was named to the special mention list, and her classmate Quackenbush was named to the honorable mention list in Division I. That duo helped the Wildcats finish as district runners-up.

Geller averaged 16.4 points, shooting over 50% from the field, and 2.6 assists per game, and Quackenbush averaged 12.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the Wildcats.

Mortimer, a sophomore, was named to the third team in Division III. She helped the Blue Aces win Licking County League-Buckeye Division and district championships, reaching the regional finals.

Mortimer averaged 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Blue Aces.

The All-Ohio boys basketball teams will be released Wednesday and Thursday.
