My wife is buying a new hard drive. HP quad core etc....

What is the Best media card for her to buy? She is choosing between AMD Raedeon and NVidia Gforce.

Also any computer advice you could give would be great also....

I have no clue.

What are you using the video card for? Gaming? HD TV? Just surfing the web?

I usually go to Toms Hardware for comparison. Here is an example comparison chart:

I'm in the process of putting together a new gaming rig right now. Just purchased a Raedeon 5770 and it works great. With rebate I got it for around $100.

I usually buy all of my equipment at newegg.com.

Read the reviews before buying any card. A lot of higher end graphics cards have a heat fan that sounds like a lawn mower engine.

I got this one and it works great for netflix, vudo, photoshop etc...

and it is silent.

Also has HDMI out.

If you are not doing any gaming then you don't need to spend a ton of money on a Graphics card. You should be able to find a quality one to meet your needs for under $100.

Now it just depends on things like:

Do you want Single or Dual monitors?
Do you have a High Resolution Monitor(s)?
Will you be watching High Def Video?
Will the card fit in your case?
What type of vidoe card connection does your motherboard support? (most newer comps have PCI Express connections/ olders systems may have AGP connectors)

Just read the specs of the different graphics cards to find the one that meets your needs and like mentioned above read the customer reviews.
