The Arizona Cardinals have announced scheduled visits for two unrestricted free agents for Thursday, March 3. Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Eric Hicks and Indianapolis Colts cornerback David Macklin will be the first players of this year's free agency period to visit with the Cardinals front office and coaching staff.

Vice President of Football Operations Rod Graves also announced scheduled visits for Friday with Broncos defensive end Bertrand Berry, Cincinnati’s offensive lineman Mike Goff, and Detroit’s return specialist/receiver Reginald Swinton. The team is scheduled to visit with Rams defensive end Grant Wistrom, Bears guard Chris Villiarrial, and Tampa Bay’s quarterback Shaun King on Saturday.

I actually like something that Graves said today.

"Dennis (Green) and I have talked about Garcia and that is not a direction he is interested in going in," stated Graves.

In the past, the Cardinals traditionally have not signed players during their visits. Graves implied some of these players could have deals signed before leaving Arizona.

"I wouldn't discount our effort to do that," said Graves. "If it makes sense from a standpoint that we can get an agreement on most terms with the agent, then we will just go ahead and try to make an effort to do that. We are in a position where depending on our level of excitement about the player, we are going to drive to make something happen relatively soon."

I like what I hear in this statement. Proof is in making it happen. Trying hard does not count, making it a reality is. I hope it works out and we get our playmakers.

I hope we can land Grant Wistrom or Bert Berry. Graves is being active bringing so many players in so soon and that is a good thing. Marcellus Wiley is another DE I would like to see come in for a visit. Since Champ Bailey and Shawn Springs are gone I hope we bring in Antoine Winfield soon. Cornerbacks are going fast.

Wise words said by a hardcore fan.

I agree.

Talk is worth diddly poop. We want action.

BTW - Villiarrial got signed by the Bills

Imagine that. A player signing with someone else while we sit on our hands and wait for him to come in. Way to schedule him in.

It is mandatory for this franchise to get a DE or DT in FA this year.

2 DE's like Berry and Hicks would be nice.

No draft DE's will make much of an impact.

Pace and Johnson coupled with 2 FA pick ups would be super.

I didn't watch many Denver games. Is Berry a DE or a LB? He seems really small to be a DE.

Yes........exactly. Now where Green thinks he fits over and above what we have is for more intelligent football minds than mine......and I'm not trying to be disrespectful nor omnipotent here either!

Bert Berry was a DE at Notre Dame. The position is irrelevant. The guy does one thing well - rush the passer.

skkorp....yes he was a DE at Notre Dame.....that was a few years ago....he is being looked at as a LB......6'3" and 250 lbs. smells to me like a MLB......and a possible look see for a McKinnon replacement......absolutely no way is he in the mix as a DE

I got asked a question about Macklin, so here's the answer for anyone interested. I had him rated in my sleepers (I called them overlays). Here's what I wrote,
"David Macklin (CB-PSU) is seen by most as a middle of the pack selection. I think he has the cover skills and the closing speed to be a top corner." Sorry I didn't say more. I would say he's been about what I expected once he acclimated to the league.

Macklin had some solid games for the Colts last year, I'm surprised they let him go.

In Graves announcments he was asked about Moss. He said that so far that was just a rumor. But it was the way he said it, that makes me believe with Green knowing Moss that there might be something to it. At least some talking has gone on I would bet on it. It may noy be close right now, but who knows excpet the Vikes and Gren and Graves. Time will tell.
But..What if..Then the draft becomes very different.

GBR

As they used to say on laugh in..VEry interesting but very interesting.
