At the right price I would take a serious look at Alex Smith. As a previous poster said, he is intriguing. But it would be a one-year deal AT THE RIGHT PRICE.
This team is crying out for REAL leaders and I certainly don't put Joey Porter or Adrian Wilson in that category. With the departure of Warner and Boldin, the leadership factor was decimated IMO. Even given, that Boldin wasn't the leader more recently that he was in his earlier Cardinal career, he was widely admired for his toughness and fiery competiveness.
The Cardinals need to draft SMART players with a BURNING desire to win. Guys in the mold of Tim Tebow. Please no more Levi Browns! And for heaven's sake draft for value, not need. If recent drafts have taught anything, it's that drafting a Levi Brown or Antrel Rolle early to fill in a need eventually blows up in your face. But drafting the best player available in Larry Fitzgerald even when you already have a pro-bowl caliber wide receiver in Anquan Boldin could take you to a Super Bowl. The Chargers didn't hesitate to take Philip Rivers (OK Eli to trade for Rivers) when they already had Drew Brees. Grab the value not the perceived need.
