fingers crossed we see this combination QB/WR work out. It'd be a great luxury to not have to draft a QB in the first round this coming offseason. I'm a skeptic of any rookie QB, but I liked what I saw from Skelton today with his poise. Not a lot of people will talk about it, but his quick check-down to the hot receiver when blitzed was a pass so fast it reminded me of Warner a little. Great head on that play, I know it didn't amount to too many yards, but plays like that become sacks and fumbles when Scud and Hall are in the game.

Never underestimate the power of positive yards, right?

I'm not going to get all hyped up over Skelton after 2 good throws but I will say this:

I had forgotten what it looks like when a pass hits Larry right in the numbers. That was nice to see.

For those who want Ryan Mallett: No need to draft him because we have a comparable version in Skelton. Strongarmed and accurate, bot NOT mobile and needs development with his footwork.

That being said, I think its a long shot that either Mallett or Skelton ever become good starting NFL QBs so I am praying that we have the opportunity to draft Luck and develop Skelton as a backup

^^^ Incorrect. Skelton is pretty mobile for his 6'6" body.

I am not going to get crazy about Skelton. But he did make some nice throws. He also didnt look like the game was too big for him. He hit a very impressive hot route. He also threw the ball away when he was about to get smashed(penalty I know).

He looked calm for his very first start. I liked what I saw. I would rater finish the year watching a guy that has some promise with no expectations.

All things considered, I thought the kid did well today also. In the next 4 games, teams will stack the box & force the Cardinals to throw the ball. As long as we stay in manageable situations, Skelton will do OK. If he's constantly looking at 3rd & 15, then we'll get blitzed & our pathetic OL will fold.

My only fear is if Skelton does decent & we win a game or two, then the Cardinals will be less reluctant to see the QB position in dire straits. Regardless of what happens in the next 4 weeks, the odds are against Skelton being the long term solution. The Cardinals had better draft a QB in the 1st round or trade for a legitimate starter in the offseason.

Ditto. I know he got some reps in practice this past week since Hall was under the weather; I wonder how he would do if he got more practice time with the first team.

Couldn't that possibly be a blessing in disguise. This team has problems that are bigger than the QB. I like Luck too, but putting all our eggs in that basket has major risks and if we wind up drafting 4th or 5th, we might never have a shot at him anyways. Who then? Newton? Mallet? Locker? Some other guy I've never really heard of?

It's proven time and time and time again, you can win the SB with an average QB, you cannot win the superbowl with a below average Defense...

I'm not trying to start an argument. I dont know alot about college football and who will be out there I completely admit that. I'm really asking a question of you college football guru's who know more than me so please dont take this post as combative. Trust me the Cards have taken all the fight out of me the past 7 weeks.

We need a QB forsure but who knows, maybe Skelton can be average? I dont know right now but if he plays awesome (not well or ok, awesome) then we might consider going in a different direction with our pick which is certain to be high. Are there any stud LB's out there that are worthy of top 5 consideration? As far as Oline, I've seen enough of that. After Leonard Davis and Levi Brown sucking for us, I dont want to see this team draft another Olineman in the top 10 because clearly we dont know what we're doing there.

It's hard to even organize my thoughts about what this team needs. Everything has been so convoluted over the past 12 weeks. It still feels like this is kindof a bad dream... :(

 Hope it's time we find out!!!

Because the Cardinals need either two or three different QB's next season...

Agreed...

He looked very composed out there for the most part. His footwork looked vastly improved since the preseason. Quick release. He maintained a level pad level and had some nice zip on the ball and was accurate.

Funny, but the 3 plays that impressed me the most about Skelton, were his intentional grounding play, when he was sacked and his check down pass to Doucet for 4 yards. His intentional grounding play showed me he mentally processes the field and the situation quickly and makes a decision. The defender was on him fast. When he was sacked for -10 yards, the first thing he did when he realized he was going to get sacked, was grip that ball to ensure he wasn't going to fumble it. And his 4 yard check down, he took the time to go through his progressions, and seeing that everyone was covered, he immediately went to his check down rather than holding the ball too long. Better a 4 yard gain than a sack.

I'm not going to get too excited over his play today, but I have seen growth. He's still got alot to prove and I get the feeling that we're all going to be seeing alot more of him.

I did. I liked what I saw but I am so afraid to say it. I don't want to get my hopes rocked again, but he did look like he deserves some time on the field.

the season is over, there is no reason not to start skelton for the remainder of the season. obviously our qb situation is not working, lets see what the kids got, it can't get any worse. if he shows some promise in these last games and we can't get andrew luck, i see sign a vet in the off-season and go with that so we can use our top 5 pick on someone who can contribute immediately.

The ideal thing would be for Skelton to light it up and become the guy. I agree the odds are against him but if he could show something the Cards could address other needs in the draft, like maybe getting a LB, or 4, that can tackle.

In that picture his face resembles Bradford's. Wouldnt it be great if his game did?

Even though he only had two passes I liked what I saw from him. This was my first time seeing and his passes looked strong. With the right coaching he could be the QB of the future.

Not sure what position do we draft next year. Qb would be nice but is there a definite franchise QB in college right now.

The reason Skelton will rule is because his instinct to counter a blitz is a 30 yard lob to Fitz
