Another Georgia Bulldog will be free agent. Tight end John FitzPatrick was not tendered a contract by the Green Bay Packers, so he is an unrestricted free agent.
FitzPatrick was a three-star recruit that signed with Georgia in 2018. He redshirted his true freshman year, and as a redshirt sophomore, he caught ten passes for 95 yards and one touchdown.
When he was a redshirt junior, he started seven of the fifteen games he played, catching six passes for 83 yards as a member of the Bulldogs' national championship team in 2022. Even more impressively, FitzPatrick played the entire season with fractures in both feet.
FitzPatrick was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, and after rehabbing all of 2022, he played as the fourth tight end in 2023, behind Kyle Pitts, Jonnu Smith, and MyCole Pruitt. He had 12 yards and made three tackles on special teams in 2023.
FitzPatrick was placed on waivers by the Atlanta Falcons in Aug. 2024, not making the final cuts, but he was signed to Green Bay's practice squad. However, Green Bay will let him test free agency, and he'll look to sign with a team in need of special teams and tight end depth.
