Finally saw this. I was a huge Green Lantern fan as a kid, so I knew going in this movie was not geared towards me. I wasn't expecting a lot of nuance, and there really wasn't any. There wasn't much of anything. Never seen such a bare bones superhero movie. It was like they weren't even really interested in it. It was just "stick to the formula," which made the movie short and suspenseless.

Disappointed.

I really wasn't expecting much so for me the movie exceeded expectations. It's watchable, maybe even a little bit above that but nothing special. I'm not a big fan of comic book movies but I've always been a GL fan. Of course, my Green Lantern is the Silver Age hero and this Hal Jordan had little in common with him. I thought Peter Sarsgaard gave his usual strong performance although it almost seemed inappropriate given the overall caliber of the movie.

I'm also a little surprised that WB didn't take a chance, and go with John Stewart. Well, not surprised...but it would have been cool I think. I'd assume that's something they'll work into the movie franchise later down the road...if the road lasts that long.
Going with John Stewart would be incredibly stupid right off the bat. That would be like making a Batman and Robin movie and having the first Robin be Tim Drake. Can't tell a story by jumping to the middle.

It was better then Daredevil and Elektra, so it has that going for it.

Other then that I hated it. Bored out of mind most of the time, and the acting ability or the writing couldn't care the "non-action" scenes enough. Worse of all the bad guys were down right horrible. If they executed the bad guys role better I probably would have liked way more.
I haven't seen it but I understand that the main antagonist is Parallax. This makes me smh only because you can't have Parallax without Sinestro.
