Not much "new" news, but when asked about the pass rush, after mentioning how much Berry will help, and how KVB will only in on passing downs because of his knees, he said "and Clavin Pace has been improving" and implied that he might be a past of the pass rush rotation.

I thought that was interesting since I haven't heard him say a kind word about Pace in the past.

Pariah,

This is good. I was sensing that Pace might be "catching on" with Green........especially after the Denver game. I really think that with a full year of being "coached up", we'll have something here.

Zellner is not a long term solution on the left side and clearly KVB is becoming a "situational player". If we can put 15 pounds of muscle onto Pace's frame without him losing any speed, he'd be a natural opposite Berry going forward.

Pariah - Talk to us a bit about Sirius.

I got tempted and checked out the available equipment. It seemed as though, to hook up to it you needed:

- A modular tuning/receiving unit that could be hooked up/"docked" either into a car radio, home stereo or Sirius boombox

- An antenna

- Subscription for roughly $10/mo.

What can you tell us about:

- Reception (Is it good?)

- Antenna location (Do you need a clear line of sight like you do DirecTV?)

- Can the antenna be situated inside the house or does it have to be on the roof? Do you have to mount it on the outside of your car? (via magnet or hard mount? Do you need to attach a wire from the antenna to the receiver?

- Whether you need to wire your car radio to get the receiver to work or whether it's one of those gismos where you plug the output cable through an adapter into the cigaret lighter and then tune it to a vacant place on the radio dial.

That sort of stuff.

Jeff, this reminds me of the episode of seinfeld where kramer bought the tonight show (or some talk show) 's furniture and interviews everyone who stops by like they are on tv lol

Reception is good, but you do need direct line of sight, like any other satelite device.

However, I do have two of my antennas indoors. My home antenna is on the third (top) floor and it receives perfectly through the ceiling, though I am sure that is dependent on how your roof is built (how much metal). My other indoor location is at my work, I am on the 2nd floor with several floors above me. I only get reception there when the satellite is in the right posiition.

The car mount is a magnet. You can come up with any type of scheme you want to hook it up to your car, however, that is dependent on your radio. The receiver I have outputs it on a stereo headphone jack. This is good b/c I can directly input it into my computer and therefore record or do whatever I want with the sound. If you car radio allows input in a standardized format (RCA jacks) it would be pretty easy to hook up. I had to use an RF modulator which plugs into your antennae (not wireless). I also tapped into my cigarette outlet that was powered by ACC so that when my ignition is off, so is the radio.

I've been considering it myself.

They say the portable players can be used anywhere including a boat. I am assuming they still need ac power like from a cigarette lighter in a car? Is there an existing adapter that allows you to connect directly to a battery?

All the electronics on my boat (engine, fish finder/gps) are connected to the battery just with a positive and negative wire to the battery terminals.

I’m very happy with my decision to get Sirius. The reception has been nearly flawless (I’ve only lost the signal in a big parking structure in the car, and once during a really bad t-storm at home).

It’s a little pricey to get the equipment to start, but so far, I think it’s been worth it. You need to by the receiver. In my case, I bought a “portable” receiver that I can take from my car to my house. Going this route you also need to buy a docking kit for both the car and at home. At home you have an antenna that’s (very) roughly the size of a deck of cards that I just have sitting on top of the hutch in the kitchen where we keep the stereo—so, no, it doesn’t have to be outside (it’s about 2.5 ft. from the ceiling—we have an attic, but no upstairs—and about 6 ft. from a window). The car antenna was installed by the guys who put in my stereo (I had a new deck put in at the same time as Sirius). It’s pretty low profile on the roof just above the windshield. It looks like one of those big tootsie rolls, just a little flatter.

The other option in the car is a Sirius-ready deck—no portability between house and car, though. That’s why I went with the set-up I did.

Aside from the NFL channel, the music channels are great. There also seems to be a lot of other interesting talk radio, but I probably won’t get to those until late January.

Lessee…I’ll just try to address the rest of your Q’s directly….

- A modular tuning/receiving unit that could be hooked up/"docked" either into a car radio, home stereo or Sirius boombox—correct.

- An antenna
—right, I think these come with the docking stations…not sure about that, though.

- Subscription for roughly $10/mo.
—yup, but that’s a little misleading, too. They charge you the whole thing upfront, or at least they charged me the whole thing at once. Didn’t seem like monthly was an option.

What can you tell us about:

- Reception (Is it good?)
–no complaints. There have been times when I’ve lost reception, but it’s never been for long. It’s better than I could have hoped for.

- Antenna location (Do you need a clear line of sight like you do DirecTV?)
–No, it doesn’t seem to need a clear line of sight. Which is good, because that might have been a deal-killer for me. My set up described above works great, but if you have a second layer of house to get through, or aren’t as close to a southern window, I’m not sure what would happen. I think they sell repeaters, though.

- Can the antenna be situated inside the house or does it have to be on the roof? Do you have to mount it on the outside of your car? (via magnet or hard mount? Do you need to attach a wire from the antenna to the receiver?
–I think the car antenna is mounted with some sort of adhesive, but I’m not certain how it’s stuck to the roof. The wiring comes through the side of the windshield, so it’s not something I would have wanted to try to do myself.

- Whether you need to wire your car radio to get the receiver to work or whether it's one of those gismos where you plug the output cable through an adapter into the cigaret lighter and then tune it to a vacant place on the radio dial.
It needs to be wired to your car, and the receiver should probably be mounted with the kit provided. Furthermore, it’s best if your stereo has an AUX input—I think you CAN tune it in through an FM station, but, IMO, that sounds sketchy.

HeavyB3 is a Sirius pimp, I think. He probably knows more than me about this stuff…Hope this helps, though.

My dad has it in his car out in Missouri. IMO, it is great if you do a lot of long distance driving.

As for me, I find it annoying that the reception goes out for a second as you travel under bridges/over-over passes, etc.

Just my opinion. Others obviously swear by it.

Go Cards!!!

I've got a couple of bridges I go under on my route to get my son from daycare and I've never lost reception in those. I'm under there for probably about 10 secs, so maybe they need to be bigger tunnels.

If I was still driving from Denver to Boulder everyday (which I'm not) Sat. radio would be invaluable-- but now I mostly listen at home.
