Halos didn't give up much for an ace, that seems to be the theme for this year's trades. The rich get richer.

Uh ... that's quite a bit in my eyes. The gave up the best parts of the farm for sure. Imagine the D-Backs giving up Archie Bradley, Andrew Chafin, and AJ Pollock for Greinke. And this for a guy who's been ... pretty good, but nothing like his 2009 season. He's a B+ kind of starter, and really good No. 2.

It makes sense for the Angles, but not many other teams have great pressure to blow the farm to win this season (and get through the treacherous American League playoffs).

Uhh, all the D-Backs players you mentioned are better than what LA gave up. My point is that teams will want ARZ's elite prospects for guys like Chase Headley when the Dodgers & Angels are getting bigger pieces for guys that aren't really elite prospects especially when compared to ARZ's farm system. The SS for LA is their #3 prospect but the Angels system is pretty weak with Trout, Richards & Bourjos in the majors. The other guys are back of the rotation pitchers.

Zack Greinke is an ace....not a #2 or B+ pitcher. He is better than any pitcher on our big league roster, maybe even our minor league system and the best arm on the market. MIL should have gotten more even if he is a FA at the end of the year, LA will have the money to re-sign him anyway.

For KC he was, but for Milwaukee he's just been really good. He's definitely not an ace for a contender, and his numbers have been inflating. He'll eat 7 innings a game and keep you in a game. He's not anywhere near where he was with the Royals. His 1.20 WHIP puts him right at the top of that second tier of pitchers.

Point being, the D-Backs would have given up more than the Angels to get a guy who doesn't necessarily change the season's fortune. For the Angles, however, he fits right in and won't have to carry the load by himself.
