The Bills have talked to many big names in the coaching field, but they will also include some lesser known assistants in their coaching search.

Jay Glazer reports the Bills are making plans to interview Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Cardinals assistant head coach Russ Grimm and Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera have also been mentioned as possibilities. Brian Billick is reportedly staffing up in case he gets the Bills job.

Buffalo's entire coaching staff is expected to be replaced.

I would be surprised if Grimm was the pick.

I fully expect Grimm to get a HC job this season & taking a few more guys with him. It happens & is part of success.

This was discussed a couple months ago. If Cowher isn't coming back, which signs are pointing to, Grimm is probably the leading candidate.

Unfortunately for Grimm's sake, he lacks the allure that teams want in a head coach. Plus, he's like Joe Bugel, he's a position coach. Not his fault, but teams today love a guy who has shown acumen as a coordinator and a special ability to dominate one side of the ball, at least. Because of that, believe it or not, Charlie Weis has a better chance of landing an NFL HC-ing job than Grimm. Weis has won Super Bowls as an OC and has demostrated a "special talent" in that area.

When people look at Grimm's impact in Arizona, for right or for wrong, they cannot be wowed with the job he's done as offensive line coach, because, quite frankly, his offensive line has been a source for more scrutiny than praise.

Now this doesn't mean that Grimm wouldn't be a fine HC. The problem is he's got to get someone to give him that chance. His own Steelers thought Mike Tomlin, an outsider for the job,but yet a successful coordinator, was a better choice. What does that say?

The other thing working against him at this time is that there are too many high profile coaches out there. Heck, now it looks like Bill Cowher may have to wait another year. Cowher will be hired well before Grimm ever will.

One thing is for sure though: he belongs in the HOF.

I would be ok with that, it would allow us to hire Tom Cable as OL coach after the Raiders fire him.

Let's hope he can work his magic with Levi Brown much like he did with Robert Gallery. Meaning he realizes Brown is a failure of a tackle but a damn good guard and has the cajones to make the switch.

Unless we go to a Gibbs-zone it ain't happening. Cable runs the same line scheme that made Denver famous, resurrected Dunn's career, and set up a constantly improving Texans team.

Also, Gallery's resurgence had a lot to do with returning to that scheme, which made him an outstanding college prospect.

If Billick wants it, I'd think that would be a lock. Why would someone go with Grimm over Billick?

I agree pariah. I'm betting Grimm never sniffs an NFL sideline as a head coach.

If Billick wants it he should be able to get it .... but the question is does he want it?

Buffalo, IMO, is not an attractive job .... they have a very questionable future and it's a reason a lot of the big names have given them a quick no

They may have no choice but to go the raiders route of picking up a guy who is just looking for a chance and not so picky about long term implications

I think Grimm will be looked at, maybe even talked to about openings. But I think he will be staying right here.

Oh, I'll bet he's in the mix a lot of places over the next few years...especially if the Cardinals success continues. But, when he goes up against experienced and proven guys like Billick, I just don't see him winning the gig unless it's in a place like Oakland...and then I don't see him taking it; in a case like that, he's TOO experienced.
