Is this grounds for divorce? As everyone knows by now, Tressel re-signed from OSU today. My wife jokingly mentioned that "maybe in a couple years the Cardinals will hire him as their HC". I don't think I could take the combo of Rod Graves and Jim Tressel on one team( my head almost exploded just typing it). I didn't think anything could make me not be a Cards fan, that would probably do it.

If that happens, she's out :D.

Yeah, that situation ended up pretty much where it had to. Tressel was a moron, the school's officials were morons, and of course the players were morons themselves. Way to go, leader-of-the-team, Mr. Pryor. Sooo glad he ended up going to OSU now :)

I don't see NFL teams going after Tressel. Not a good fit with the offense he ran. I can see him eventually going to a small college working with young players. He is 58 years old, days with a big program are over.

lol They just showed Pryor on ESPN and that ******* is STILL rolling around in a totally pimped-out 370Z.

Guess he bought that with his "allowance" from his "parents." What a freaking moron.

No way Tressel would go pro. He's a good teacher and has a good system for college student athletes, but I don't think he's a good x & o guy.
I could totally see him going back to some small Ohio school and teaching/coaching for the rest of his life.

Yeah Tressel is a crook. The OSU players are crooks. I agree. But let's not pretend like this doesn't happen at all the major college programs. You really think that you put a bunch of 18 year olds who've never had money in their lives in the public eye and there aren't going to be people from all over trying to exploit them?

What OSU did was wrong, but let's not pretend like they are the exception. They were just the ones who got caught this time.

I wouldn't want him at Penn State, no way. He trails program violations after him like a tail, and he is a terrible in-game coach. Almost every time they lose, I think he makes a few too-conservative calls that keep them from victory.

I wouldn't call him a terrible in game coach. I don't like his style but you can't argue with his record. He's defnitely conservative but he figures if they don't tun it over, they'll likely win. You are right though, in big games, he has made some head scratchers. I will never understand, especially with his conservative nature, why he didn't just ride Beanie Wells to a NC against LSU. They couldn't stop him but he went to the passing game and that was that.

Everybody thought that Tressel was a decent guy. As he seems to be. But he got caught and is paying for it. And that he took full responsibility. But there was more to meet the eye over what was happening at OSU. He can only learn from this and move on. But we all make mistakes and need to learn from it and move on. Unfortunately it ended up costing Tressel his job.

I wouldn't doubt ASU makes a play on him if Erickson doesn't win this year.

Sounds like to me, while being a liar, he was in a no win situation. His players were scumbags, he tried to help them, they screwed him over, and then he screwed himself more by lying. He was set up to fail, and he did. There's been much worse from the coaching front. A person lying when cornered is not the same as someone who is actively trying to skirt the rules to the benefit of his players. I think he learns his lesson, although it would be great to be a fly on the wall of any interview.

You can blame him for lying (and obviously I don't have the whole story), but this guy is a pretty good coach.

I wouldn't say ground for a divorce, the guy has been very successful. Perhaps she just wants your team to be good, and doesn't think the current coach/front office in place is very good? We did have to the average and definitely lay person a draft that had many scratching their heads. Maybe your wife took that and expounded off it? Good luck.
