ANAHEIM — José Ramírez delivered his second career three home run game in leading the Cleveland Guardians to an 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.

Ramirez hit a pair of solo shots and a two-run homer.

His first solo homer in the first inning gave the Guardians a 1-0 lead. His two-run shot in the fifth tied the game 4-4. He then ended the night with another solo homer in the ninth to increase Cleveland's lead to 8-4.

The Angels made things interesting in the ninth against Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, scoring twice and bringing the tying run to the plate before he got the final out.

Ramírez now has 19 career home runs against the Angels, including 12 in 26 career games at Angel Stadium. In 54 career games vs. the Angels, he's hitting .307 with 45 RBIs.

His big night helped Cleveland (3-4) snap a three-game losing streak by winning the series opener against the Angels.

His power outburst also helped Cleveland overcome a tough start by Gavin Williams, who lasted just three innings and gave up four runs (two earned).

Williams allowed five hits and three walks, while striking out five.

Angels star Mike Trout hammered a solo homer off Williams in the bottom of the first to tie the game 1-1.

After the Guardians regained the lead 2-1 in the second inning, the Angels went back ahead with three runs in the third. An error by Ramírez at third base helped that rally.

Ramírez, though, offset his defensive mistake with two more homers, as he finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, three runs and walk. He has four home runs this season.

This was his 26th multi-homer game, which ties Albert Belle and Jim Thome for the most in franchise history. Ramirez also moved into sixth all-time for career RBIs by a Cleveland player, passing Joe Sewell.

Brayan Rocchio, with two hits, was the only other Guardian with a multi-hit game Friday. He drove in three, including the go-ahead runs in the sixth with a two-run single to put Cleveland ahead 6-4.
