HAMBURG — Onaleigh Barnes hit a trio of three’s in the first half and Lourdes fiery defense held Delco Christian to just 10 points into the third quarter for a 54-39 PIAA 1A state playoff quarterfinal win Saturday in Hamburg.

Lourdes (22-6) advances to the PIAA 1A state playoff semifinals to play the winner of Linville Hill-Greenwood Saturday, March 22 at a site and time TBD.

“We’re in the eastern finals and that’s one of those checkmarks that everyone has,” said Lourdes head coach Mike Klembara. “I’m very proud of what they’ve done in these pressure situations.”

Kylla Sandi stepped up big defensively for Lourdes with five steals by the end of the third quarter. Sandri’s fifth steal turned into a three at the other end for the 31-13 lead with two minutes left in the third.

Barnes hit her trio of three’s in the first half and Sandri added another trio of three-point baskets between the second and third quarters.

“Them being on fire tonight, Onaleigh (Barnes) was lights out, and being able to knock them down really gave us the offensive fuel we needed going into each quarter.”

Hannah Lokitis led Lourdes offense with 22 points, Sandri added 15 points while Onaleigh Barnes contributed 11 points.

A Sandi three with three minutes left in the opening half gave Lourdes a 19-10 lead.

Things started with back-to-back steals from Sandri in the opening minutes. A Barnes three gave Lourdes a 12-3 lead with just over a minute left in the opening quarter.

“She (Barnes) is our best three-point shooter and she practices very hard, we just have to be a little more consistent on both ends of the floor.”

Delco Christian (25-6) went on a 7-0 scoring run in the second quarter after a Mary O’Donnell three made it a 13-10 difference.

Barnes and Sandri each hit triples and the Red Raiders took a 19-10 lead with three minutes left in the second quarter.

Barnes hit one final three in the first half and Lourdes took a 26-10 lead over Delco Christian at halftime.

The second half greeted Sandri with another pair of three’s, one of them following a steal defensively for the 31-13 lead.

“Once we figured out how we wanted to go at their defense it really helped us lock down and put the game away in the second half,” said Lokitis.

Lourdes led 40-18 at the end of the third quarter and Delco Christian went on a 21-14 scoring burst in the fourth quarter.

Lokitis still delivered underneath the basket with 10 points to help the Red Raiders close the game out.

O’Donnell led the charge for the Knights fourth quarter charge, scoring 12 points and hitting four baskets in the process.

Lourdes turned the ball over seven times, most in the fourth quarter, but held on for the 54-39 win to advance to the semifinals.

O’Donnell led Delco Christian’s offense with 18 points and Hallie Kees added 10 points.
