TAMAQUA — Tamaqua exploded for 11 runs in the third inning as they defeated Panther Valley, 12-0 in Schuylkill League Division 1 action.

“We worked hard this year on hitting,” said Tamaqua head coach Tony Zancofsky. “These are the games we need to win. The Schuylkill League is a tough league.”

Naomi Knitter led the Lady Raiders on the mound allowing one hit to go along with nine strikeouts. The freshman sensation also added her first career homer while going 2-for-3 at the plate and driving in two runs.

“Coming into the game I was a little worried,” said Knitter. “Once I got on the mound it was good and it just came.”

The Lady Raiders (7-3) struck first in the bottom of the first. Kolbe Robb and Addison Krall got on base after being hit by pitches. Ceanna Gormley put Tamaqua on the board after an RBI groundout to put the Lady Raiders up 1-0.
