back up role, they will sign a veteran linebacker who will be the starter
That or draft an actual SAM linebacker instead of an edge rusher. Free agent class of ILB’s is talented

The switch back to 3-4 base should help him, because LBs can be used in multiple ways other than in a strict 4-3.

When Reddick came in as a rookie, he made the difficult transition from college DE to NFL off-ball 3-4 ILB. But when Golden went down during the season, the initial plan was thrown away and Reddick played 3-4 OLB. Last season he started over again as 4-3 off-ball OLB and showed at least some growth. I think he could be successful next to Hicks in base defense, and move him around in pass rushing packages to take advantage of his blitzing/pass rushing skills. If we don't get away with an edge rusher in the draft (which I doubt considering the deep pool), I could see Reddick actually spelling Suggs when latter needs a break.

I don't remember that. He said Reddick was #10 on his board.

Negative I'll dig it up he was 3 and right above the 2 QBs, in a post draft interview. I was digging up info to write a Keim piece, not too long ago and found it.

He failed to make an impact at Temple for a couple years, then took off. Hopefully, he will do the same here. Pretty obvious he isn't a fast learner though. His skill set is Taylor made for today's game, but it's nothing without instincts and recognition

Agreed, natural edge rusher but used at SAM linebacker and a terrible tackler

Really. I thought he was put as an edge rusher at the end of his rookie campaign ? That is not saying much for natural.

zack brown is a player they should target and would fit great with Hicks
Man I am hoping we can land Brown before someone else gets him on the cheap. He needs a couple of injuries to his medical file to jump onto Keim’s radar.

I agree with you and Chris Shane.

To my uneducated eye, it looked like, towards the end of the season, Reddick was flying around out there a little bit. Making some plays.

He's still on his cheap rookie contract right? Can't we find a spot for him in the rotation for 2019?

He's not going anywhere.

Until further notice, he's a starting ILB.
