This was absolutely hilarious. The ensemble cast clicked in every way. My friend and I had so many laugh out loud moments I couldn't count them. The sailor musical number in the bar scene...oh my good lord!

The trailers look funny so I was looking forward to seeing this film, but it has been getting thrashed by the critics. I might have a Redbox rental situation on my hands here.

You don't seriously decide what to watch and what to skip based on the critics, do you? I don't give a toss--if a movie looks like I'd like it, I'll go see it. Why would you change your mind based on the critics? They miss just as much as they hit.

Critic bashing can certainly give me pause, but positive word of mouth holds more sway. Hopefully some more posters here will recommend it.

I never, ever listen to critics. Guys bash movies, I see it and love it. I have never let Rotten Tomatoes or "2 Thumbs" sway me on what to watch. I'm more easily entertained then most.

me too. I love movies and I watch them to be entertained....they really have to screw one up for me to not find some reason to like it.

a general rule of thumb is if the professional critics hate it,...I am going to love it.
the fan poll sites are slightly more accurate than the pros

I love movies too, but don't you hate it when you realize you just spent a wad of cash on a bowl of crap? The wifey and I recently made the mistake of going to see Rock The Kasbah prior to hearing anything about it because Bill Murray is awesome and the trailers looked cool. Man, that movie was a complete bore festival, one long yawn party, a total waste of time and money.

It costs me about $100 bucks to take the ol'lady and the kid to see a movie...(tickets, popcorn, drinks, etc)...that being the case I have a basic system for when the theater is appropriate.
Star Trek
Star Wars
Avatar
Generally movies of epic proportions that make the most out of modern theater technology...big screens, IMAX, 3D, etc.... these movies are worthy of my movie going dollar

Horror flicks, RomComs, basic dramas, etc.... these movies will have the same effect at home on my 60" plasma.........buy the DVD at wally world for 13-25 bucks.

we occasionally make exceptions for horror movies as the whole family enjoys them...but they rarely live up to the hype.....

I have been a nerd since Fonzi coined the phrase so of course any marvel movies are automatic theater titles, lol.

Exactly! I can't really remember a movie I was so disappointed in that I wish I never spent the money on. There was one movie recently that I watched at home that I thought was bad, but can't remember what it was....that's how bad it was and I didn't spend a dime on it either.

I'm going to see this movie even if it was bad. I'm just a huge Clooney fan. I have to be for what he did for me on Three Kings. :)

Yeah the Coens and a cast like this is a deadly combination; had a blast watching this one.
