Former Chiefs HC Todd Haley visiting Jets today. Jets could team Tony Sparano as OC, Haley as asst HC, to repace Brian Schottenheimer.

Cant imagine him working out with Rex's ego and loud act. That would be a volitile place for players. That said I think it will happen.

I think the Jet scene will be a real can of worms while the OC position here will be something he is comfortable with and can run the whole offensive show. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Additionally have we even made him an offer???

Todd Haley could join Jets’ staff

Posted by Michael David Smith Profootball Talk

With Tony Sparano set to become the Jets’ offensive coordinator, and with the earlier reports saying Sparano and former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley could join some coaching staff as a package deal, does that mean Haley is on his way to New York?

It does — at least for a job interview. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Haley is visiting the Jets today, although it’s not a sure thing that Haley will actually end up on the Jets’ staff.

Haley and Sparano, who were fired as head coaches of the Chiefs and Dolphins on the same day, are friends and former colleagues who would like to work on the same offensive staff together. With the Jets, it might make sense for Sparano to have the offensive coordinator title and Haley to have the assistant head coach title that Bill Callahan left behind on Tuesday when he departed to coach the offensive line in Dallas. The combination would leave Sparano primarily responsible for the run game and Haley primarily responsible for the passing game.

Or it’s possible that the two won’t work together. Haley has also drawn interest from Arizona, and he is believed to have other teams interested in his services as well. But for a Jets team that needs to radically reshape its passing game, hiring Haley would make a lot of sense.

I don't understand how Haley and Sparano become a tag team or tandem. SoFlorida radio is reporting Sparano is the new OC. That may be premature. He has no experience as an OC. Just a glorified line coach.

However if he turns the offense around and they go to the Super Bowl, that would give him a better chance for a HC position. New York is the media center of the country.

I can't see Haley wanting to work with Rex, let alone what would be his THIRD overrated $C dink and dunk gloryboy.

He was the play caller in Dallas in '06.

I believe they coached together in Dallas on Parcells staff.

That should work out well for Sanchez... Rex will ream him out in public to reporters and then he can be screamed at by Haley internally. Somebody better put the kid on suicide watch if this happens...

Good offense, good RB, amazing recievers, potential laden QBs. You can be a pessimist all you want but our O has FAR more potential than NYJ

The Cardinals do not have a good offense, have only one amazing receiver, and the QB potential is based solely on if and hope. The two running backs are both dealing with knee injuries, and the Oline is pasthetic. The players never really got the system.

However, the defense is a completely different animal. That side of the ball is manned by a group of young players who have shown they can play. No if and hope potential involved. Add in the veterans like Dockett, Wilson and Rhodes and that the players got the system and the future is so bright you'll need to wear shades to watch them.

The offense needs a lot of work but I think that having a defense like ours should make an OC's job much easier and as such make the Cardinals OC position an attractive one.

Will have to all agree to disagree.

If I was a coach, id take AZ.

I like our RBs as well but we just can't overlook the knee problems. I don't know anything about the Jets receivers but I don't think much of Roberts and Doucet.

I do agree that if I were a coach I'd take Arizona. Better place to live, Larry Fitzgerald to work with and as I said a young improving defense so that you only have to score 17 points a game to win. Looks like a great job to me.

I like Haley, but he's not the only girl at the dance.

The big thing is that we're making a coaching change to improve the QBing.

The key is - If not Haley, we need to bring in a "QB Whisperer" (who hopefully can creatively design and call plays if asked to).

Tony Sparano, who presided over one of the greatest turnarounds in NFL history, has a new challenge: Fixing the New York Jets' dysfunctional offense.

The Jets made it official Wednesday afternoon, hiring the former Miami Dolphins coach as their offensive coordinator. He replaces Brian Schottenheimer, who resigned under pressure after a tumultuous end to six up-and-down seasons.

Welcome to the nut house, Tony.

Where will Haley fit?

From Twitter

Sanjay Lal is #Jets' new WR coach after two-day interview. Team also considered Karl Dorrell and Todd Haley for that position
