I predicted yet another 5-11 season when many around here (a vast majority) was predicting 8 to 10 wins. So, after 8 games, we are projecting at 6-10. The Cards are in the position of beating my prediction, so they get a solid passing grade.

The D alone earns an A whereas the O earns a D. Yes, Fitz and Edge are having great years individually, but the unit as a whole has failed to establish any semblance of cohesion and consistency.

The QB play has been terrible and Matt's early failures have me wondering if he has the same primadonna "drive" that I am starting to think Stoudemire has for the Suns. Matt has been in great situations all along with outstanding talent all over the place. Now, in a position of adversity, he looks dumb and confused. I was the most excited person here when he slipped to us at #10, but now I'm starting to wonder if there was a reason that 9 other teams saw not to pick him. Warner has tried and I give him credit for effort, but he just doesn't have it. I like him as a backup and as a change of pace guy, but he cannot be relied on as a major minutes guy, let alone a starter.

Well, here's to another top 10 pick and long offseason....

i don't know what kind of a curve you're using, but i don't give 'em a "B," not when a B means "above average." if a "C" is "average" then they get a D+ from me. and the only reason they get the "+" is for the steelers win.

You give an "A" to a defense that gave up a 19 play drive allowing 5 third down conversions? I'd give them a C, but only because they finally forced TB to try a FG.

Can't have an A rated Defense that allows some no-name RB to run right up their gut 34 times for 124 yards or allow Methuselah Testaverde to beat them deep on back to back passes with the game on the line.

we allowed the bucs to have a 100 yard rusher for the first time in 14 games. we allowed a scrub 3rd stringer to put 123 yards on us. we allowed a pathetic rams offense (see scores both before and after our game) to pin 31 points on us. we allowed a pathetic panther offense (again, see what they've done against other teams), with vinny at the helm for 3 days, to pin 25 points on us. we allowed a pathetic niner offense to march down the field and score the game winning td on us. this defense is bad. it does not deserve an "A" for anything. it is bad. the offense is bad. we suck. D+

A or Solid B - How about C Or D!

Defense "C", to many yards by scrubs. Offense "D", Warner is not the answer Boys and Girls, wait till next year that is all we can hope for! Matt, hurry back!

How one game makes a difference. If this grading had to be done prior to the bye, the grades could have been quite different.

Not mine. Prior to Matt & Kurt getting hurt the offensive grade was much higher the defense no. The D improved from pre season but they are still incredibly inconsistent.

The Defense was on the field over 40 minutes. Some because they couldn't stop those time consuming drives, but most because the offense went 3 and out. No defense can hold an oppenant for over 40 minutes and still they gave up very few points. My grade for the D yesterday b+. The offense gets a flat at F for our running game 15 yards and our turnovers at crtical times.

As for the play calling I also give that a low grade D. If that is all the plays that Whiz is comfotable with playing Kurt then take him out.

Here are my grades, for what it's worth:

I have been of the same opinion since the pre-season: This "D" is designed to hold teams to around 20 points per game. If they do better than that, they get a better grade. So far, by that reasoning, they get a "B-".

The offense was designed to score 24+ points per week, so by that reasoning they have failed miserably. They get an "F".

So overall, IMHO we get a solid "D" at the mid-point.

Especially the one drive that consumed 30% of those 40 minutes.

A 19 play, 12 minute drive without scoring?!?!. If I hadn't watched it I'd have never believed it happened.

Whats even more incredible was no motion, illegal shifts, holding, dropped passes, muffed snap, delay of game or turnovers.

If you are grading based on expectation then you could give them a B- but if you are grading them on actual performance I give the a D+ or C-. I thought they were an 8/8 or 7/9 team going in. Now I see us winning perhaps 5 games. If Warner gets hurt further and cannot play I do not see us winning any games from that point on.

Didn't Brian Leonard have 100 yards against us, another backup RB?

Yes, and they let him average 5.7 yards per carry. The Cards also allowed the Rams to score 31% (31 of 99) of St.Louis' total points for the season in that one game.

Defense gets a passing grade - choose your letter...

The Offensive has been nothing short of a complete FAILURE. Hard to believe Whiz was a very effective Offensive Coordinator, and now has Grimm at this side, yet the offensive is no better than what we had during Denny's tenure...

as did the backup RB for Carolina.

The D gets a C-, the offense gets an F... and our schedule hasn't even been that tough.

Huh? That WAS the tough part of the schedule. Offense F??? OL has been better, running game has been much better except for Tampa game. Passing game has been disappointing but that should not cause F for entire offense.

oh really? Baltimore stinks, Carolina's atrocious, the Niners are atrocious, the Hawks are bad, the Skins and Bucs are both mediocre at best and were destroyed with injuries. Can you point to one bona-fide good team besides the Steelers that we've played so far?

The running game compared to what? The end of last season? I don't think so, considering that in Edge's last 8 games, he had more yards than he has this year and the passing game has been downright pathetic.
