It was 10 years ago Friday night − March 14, 2015 − when Notre Dame basketball did what many believed wouild never be done.
In its second season in the league, Notre Dame won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship by beating Duke and North Carolina on consecutive nights in the heart of Tobacco Road.
Greatest night in program history? It's right there with the 1974 comeback of UCLA. That one was a regular season game. In January. On Notre Dame's homecourt. This one allowed Notre Dame to dream bi NCAA Tournament dreams that nearly saw the Irish advance to their second Final Four.
Beating North Carolina lit that fuse.
