Plot Summary: In the great nation of Emperor Penguins, deep in Antarctica, you're nobody unless you can sing—which is unfortunate for Mumble (Elijah Wood), who is the worst singer in the world. He is born dancing to his own tune... tap dancing.

Though Mumble's mom, Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman), thinks this little habit is cute, his dad, Memphis (Hugh Jackman), says it "just ain't penguin." Besides, they both know that, without a Heartsong, Mumble may never find true love.

As fate would have it, his one friend, Gloria (Brittany Murphy), happens to be the best singer around. Mumble and Gloria have a connection from the moment they hatch, but she struggles with his strange "hippity- hoppity" ways.

Mumble is just too different—especially for Noah the Elder (Hugo Weaving), the stern leader of Emperor Land, who ultimately casts him out of the community.

Away from home for the first time, Mumble meets a posse of decidedly un-Emperor-like penguins—the Adelie Amigos. Led by Ramon (Robin Williams), the Adelies instantly embrace Mumble's cool dance moves and invite him to party with them.

In Adelie Land, Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru (also voiced by Robin Williams), a crazy-feathered Rockhopper penguin who will answer any of life's questions for the price of a pebble.

Together with Lovelace and the Amigos, Mumble sets out across vast landscapes and, after some epic encounters, proves that by being true to yourself, you can make all the difference in the world.

We already have some Burger King kid's meal toys from this movie, the soundtrack, and 4 Build-a-Bear Penguins (Mumble and his three friends).

I think we're psyched to see it.

I took my 7-year-old to see this last night. I was sooooo disappointed. It turned totally political in the middle of it--which I HATE in a kids' movie. My daughter went from laughing & stuff to "huh?" in about a minute & a half. She thought there was too much singing, so she didn't like it that much anyway. I left with a definite "eh". I was in a really bad mood, so maybe it was just me. It did use real people in it, which I thought was really cool.

Anyone else?

My wife, granddaughter and I went to see it the other night and quite enjoyed it. It wasn't the greatest animated feature ever, but the songs were enjoyable, the characters warm and fuzzy, the dancing fun and the animation incredible. I found the "political" parts of it minimal and inoffensive.... although I'm sure elders of every denomination of faith were pissed off....

The penguin with the plastic six pack holder over his head was a riot...

My 6 year old niece thought it was boring and my sil said it was one of the worst "children's" movies she's ever seen half of. My kids have refused to watch it as well.

I'm glad I wasn't alone in my disappointment. Never got BIM's take on it, though.

Just watched it. The tagline is "WARNING: May Cause Toe-Tapping." I think it's because you'll be tapping your toe waiting for it to end.

I was surprised to see that it won an Oscar for best animated film. I haven't seen Cars yet, but I thought Monster House was much better.
