Haren and Bean Ball

I didn't see what led up to it but how nice was it to see Haren peg Ethier and walk right at him. The dbacks let a few go this year so it was nice to see the ace put his foot down especially against LA.

Reynolds was beaned earlier in the inning, Dan retaliated.

He was smart about it also, waited until there were two outs.

I was never more proud of Haren. Like you said there have been other times this year that the team did nothing.

I know this will cause 82Cardsgrad to rise from his coffin, but i really think this team was wussified by Melvin. They never retaliated for bean balls, they never had any fire. The fact that they finally protected one of their own shows they are getting back to the fundamental elements of the game

Yup. Bob Melvin was extremely passive . . . in his public speaking and his managing.

And, of course, it rolled downhill.

Hinch is just as passive in his public speaking, but (now that he has gotten a little experience) not in his managing.

That appears to be the difference.
