Second Harold & Kumar Starts in January
Source: Production Weekly
October 30, 2006

Production Weekly reports that the sequel to 2004's Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is planned for a late January start date in Shreveport, Louisiana. John Cho and Kal Penn are set to reprise their roles as Harold and Kumar, respectively.

In Harold & Kumar 2, the cross-country adventure follows the pot-smoking duo as they try to outrun the authorities after being suspected as terrorists when they try to sneak a bong on board a flight to Amsterdam.

The screenplay is by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who wrote the first film's script and will co-direct the sequel.

I know I know. I was going to pontificate, but since all I ever seem to do in this forum is rip big hollywood films I decided to end it with "eh". Nice, eh? How bout something like, for good stoner fun, Id much prefer the stereotyping and over the top use in a good old fashion cheech and chong film, than the stereotyping in a retread stoner film like Harold and Kumar.

11 Board Harold & Kumar 2
Source: The Hollywood Reporter

David Krumholtz, Neil Patrick Harris, Rob Corddry, Christopher Meloni, Ed Helms, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Paula Garces, Jack Conley, Roger Bart, Danneel Harris and Eric Winter will join John Cho and Kal Penn in Harold & Kumar 2 for Mandate Pictures and New Line Cinema, says The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the trade, the sequel is set in motion on the same morning that Harold and Kumar finally satisfy their munchies at White Castle and the object of Harold's affection, Maria (Garces), sets off for Amsterdam. The pair decide to pursue her so Harold can proclaim his love. But when an overzealous passenger mistakes Kumar for a terrorist, the plane is diverted and the boys are off on a new escapade of mistaken identity.

From Guantanamo Bay through the Deep South, Harold and Kumar encounter myriad wackos, jerks and ****** as they are pursued by the Department of Homeland Security all the way into Bush Country.

Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who wrote the original Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, will direct the follow-up from their original script.

Shooting began last week in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mandate Pictures is producing Harold & Kumar 2, with New Line distributing worldwide.

Greg Shapiro and Nathan Kahane are producing, while Carsten Lorenz and Joe Drake are executive producing. Mandate's Kelli Konop and Nicole Brown will serve as co-producers.

It seems like Kal Penn has signed on to just about anything he's been offered. He had that lame role in Superman and now has another lame role on 24. He made that bad Van Wilder sequel.

I loved the first movie, one of the funniest I have seen. This next one sounds pretty good. I'm definitely going to see it.

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo

Release Date: April 25, 2008
Studio: New Line Cinema
Director: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg
Screenwriter: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg
Genre: Adventure, Comedy
MPAA Rating: R (for strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language and drug use)
Website: WhatWouldNPDDo.com

Starring: John Cho, Kal Penn, Rob Corddry, Roger Bart, Neil Patrick Harris

Plot Summary: "Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo" marks the triumphant return of these two hilarious, slacker anti-heroes. The movie stars John Cho as Harold and Kal Penn as Kumar, two stoners who can't seem to get a break. Their last adventure found them traveling across country to find a White Castle hamburger in order to satisfy a weed-induced case of "the munchies."

This time, the boys get themselves in trouble trying to sneak a bong onboard a flight to Amsterdam. Now, being suspected of terrorism, they are forced to run from the law and try to find a way to prove their innocence. What follows is an irreverent and epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild trip around the world that is as "un-PC" as it gets.
