I more meant a trade for the Cards to acquire Bennet and LJ would be a part of it.Like i said in an earlier post,LJ is the second coming of Larry Allen at OG if you go by some of the LJ lovers here.So we convince Minnesota of that and do a straight player for player deal.kerouac9 said:Why would Minnesota want L.J. Shelton? For fun? They already have two upper-tier tackles in McKinney and Rosenthal. I like the idea of the Cards trading 2nd round picks with the Vikes for Bennett.

Heres a point. If the Vikings were to take a rb, wouldn't that diminish the value of Bennett? I'd offer the Vikings a 4th round pick. Take it or leave it. If we think Bennett is that good we can get him next year for nothing.
Thats right, Vikes. Now you have Bennett, Smith, Moore, Williams and whoever you drafted.
Shelton and a pick or swapping picks? I don't think so.
HookemCards said:I'm not terribly excited about trading Shelton, and his 3 yrs at a relatively cheap price for Bennet or Henry, and their one year deal. Why not just try to get a pick for Shelton, draft a RB in the 2nd or 3rd, and then go after Henry or Bennett next year as they become FA. I understand you run the risk of another team signing or trading for them. If I could get a 2nd (doubtful) or a 3rd (50/50 chance) for Shelton I'd rather do that, and then draft Sproles and/or Arrington.
Don't confuse me with some sort of insider, I just don't see LJ as anything more than a mediocre LT and right now I don't see any teams willing or able to give up the constantly mentioned 3rd rounder. Tampa Bay seems to be the only legitimate possibility but it's been pretty quiet on every front except Buffalo. And we know they're not going to give us a third rounder for LJ.kerouac9 said:Mao thinks that if we could get a third-rounder for Shelton, we'd already have jumped all over that, and I'm prone to agree.

If a team like Chicago opts to go with a WR he might go earlier than I think is warranted. On that note, I expect that the big three Rbs will not all be gone by the time we pick. The teams picking ahead of us need a multitude of skill players. Why get Cadillac in round 1 if you need a receiver and there are more good backs in the draft than receivers? Miami, after the Ricky Williams debacle I could see them investing that kind of money in nearly any position other than RB. I know nothing about what Dolphins insiders are saying, but if I'm them I'm picking a certain QB from Utah.
Fearless prediction #1: maybe obvious, but I predict that there will be an early run on QBs. Signal callers with 2nd day grades will be gone midway through the 3rd round. Someone will bite on Mcpherson or Campbell early and cause an avalanche as teams Jockey to get their boy.
slanidrac16 said:Well then, Why draft a running back when you need a cornerback?
If we go cb first we have a much better chance of landing an adequate running back in the 2nd round or still have the opportunity to land Henry or perhaps Bennett.
