I can't remember a game where we did. My only memories of the Jets would be I think in 1999 or 2000 Dave Brown played QB for us and we lost an away game to them, sinking us to 2-7 for the year, and I remember Shaun King playing a home game against them which we lost, and he was replaced by McCown late in the game.

Wow. Dave Brown and Shaun King. No wonder we lost. I think I remember the jets going 1-15 one year with their only victory coming against us. This had to be like 13-15 years ago though, so my memory on the subject is a bit spotty.

The point still sticks. I've never seen the Cards beat the Jets. At least not that I can remember. Hopefully that changes this week. I've seen the Cards beat Brett Favre.

In 1975 we pounded them 37-6. I was there to enjoy every moment of it. The coach of the Jets - Lou Holtz. I believe it was his 1st & last year as a HC in the NFL.

Most people's memory of Jets games is badly tarnished by the loss, at home, to the Jets team that eventually finished 1-15 in 1996.

We got jobbed in that game. The momentum was going our way and we were doing well (2nd quarter) - until Seth Joyner got stepped on by their RB. The no call by the refs upset Seth and he slammed his helmet down and was ejected.

Here's the recap from the papers after the game: Cardinals LB Seth Joyner was ejected in the second quarter after being penalized for a personal foul and unsportsmanlike conduct. He was ejected for bumping into an official while going after Adrian Murrell, who said he "accidentally" stepped on Joyner's chest during a pileup.

After being tossed, an irate Joyner flung his helmet across the field. That cost his team another personal-foul penalty. On his way to the locker room, Joyner kicked over a pylon in the end zone.

Happened not that far from our seats and was a complete joke. We never seemed to be in the game after that incident.

Sad deal too because that was a decent Cards team that ended the season at 7-9 and should have done even better.

didn't Murrell run for like 200 yards that day?

199.

Fortunately for the Cardinals only 28,000 showed up for that debacle. I couldn't get out for that game making it out for the 31-23 win over the Giants three weeks later.

Never forget that Giants game because we got thrown out of the hotel for excessive post game celebration.

I wonder if the Cards are the only NFL team to be the only win on a teams schedule twice in 10 years? ('04 San Francisco) Or even twice ever?

We also gave the 1-15 Patriots their only win one season. It was Drew Bledsoe's rookie year IIRC.

Not us. That dubious distinction goes to the Colts. We kicked NE's rear that year, 1990, 34-14.

The Pats were 5-11 in Bledsoe's rookie season when they beat the Cards 23-21.

EDIT: This is OT but in looking back at those old schedules it ticked me off all over again how the Cards would get shafted in the early season scheduling. There were a couple of years where we only had 2 home games in the first SEVEN weeks of the season.

And that was in St.Louis.

:D

I don't know duckjake. I tend to agree with aj on that one. I recall that being the first year they changed to the new uni. I was livid that we would lose to such a retched team.

I looked it up. They were 0-7 at the time and did beat us for their first win. They went to 1-11 before they won their last four games to finish 5-11.

Still, that game was a low point no matter who they beat later.

My memory of that Jets loss was the long run by Murrell where the only Cardinal on the field who bothered to run hard after him was Simeon Rice. I remember being impressed by how fast Rice was he didn't catch him, but Murrell didn't just pull away and Simeon never gave up.

Sure wasn't a sign of things to come for Simeon though.

My very first NFL game was the Cardinals-Jets game on October 22, 1978 at Shea Stadium on a sunny autumn day. The Jets won 23-10, sending the St. Louis Cardinals to an 0-8 record.

That was Bud Wilkinson's 1st year as HC. He lost his 1st 8 & then won 6 of his last 8 to finish the season 6-10. He started 1979 3-10 & was summarily canned. The guy was a great college coach, but the game had passed him by.
