I picked up an HD DVR from the Cox store last night, but when I tried to connect it to my tv with my HDMI cable, it did not work. The component cables, however, do work. I would prefer to use HDMI, but can't think of why this is not working (I have used the HDMI cable before to link my laptop to my tv, so the cable is good). Any ideas?

Do you have to turn on the HDMI output in the box?

Good question. I will have to check that. For some reason, they didn't give me any instructions, so I'm fumbling my way through this. Thanks for the idea!

Bingo.

If it is COX, you should have to hit the settings button 2 times to access the menu to turn on HDMI.
