Are either of these ladies playing this week? We really need somebody to go down the middle of the field and take some heat off Fitz.

Getting ridiculous with these two.

You call them ladies; Kolb calls them "Miss."

Lets see. If you are a defensive coach of a team facing the Cardinals, you know (because Whis told you) that our running back is not full strength, the tight ends are questionable, the first team fullback is not 100%, and Whis doesn't adjust the offense, so you get down on your knees and say "Thank you, Lord."

And then you put 4 in the box and smother the Cards passing game. Who said coaching in the NFL was tough. :)

How do you adjust your offense around a dinged up back, injuries at QB, and your top 2 TE's being injured? I am genuinely curious what adjustment you think that Whis should make but won't.

Yeah, this game plan isn't hard unless you are the Rams and don't have two CB's that you can stack on top of each other and be taller than Fitz. Cards game plan should be "throw it up high to Fitz".

If we have no operational TE, with our oline, a team can rush only 4 and they can have 4 guys on Fitz and still cover Doucet and Roberts.

By now I'm sure most teams know that Beanie can't catch a cold and so won't worry about him at all.

Maybe the Cards can try Chester Taylor in some pass plays.

I'm sorry, but since when were Todd Heap and Rob Housler our top 2 TEs. King is clearly the unquestioned #1 tight end in this offense, and Housler probably would be a 14-week inactive had Jim Dray been healthy through training camp and had Todd Heap predictibly turned to glass.

Todd Heap signing = 2011 version of the Emmitt Smith signing. All PR, very little football reason.

Throw it high to Fitz is part of the problem He keeps asking the QBs to throw it high to him. But that is very risky considering he is at least double covered. He has caught three tipped balls. How long can that continue. One would think that with the double coverage of Fitz that other receivers would be open (that is if we had good other receivers).

How many balls have been thrown to King in the last few games?

The Jeff King who averages 1.8 catches per game? Heap has only 50 less yards receiving in less than half the games. But then what does it matter when Heap is always hurt and King has no impact on the games. We're almost back to the TE production of Ben Patrick and Leonard "false start" Pope.

I wish we could make use of our tight ends like the Patriots do. Sigh.

What's the difference? King wasn't brought in to be a receiving threat; he was brought in to block. He's been doing very well in the max protect schemes that the Cards were running until last week.

I guess I should have specified that I was referencing our top two receiving threats at TE were injured.

I would agree that King has been a pleasant surprise.

This was more a statement in regards to the lack of height in St Louis secondary than an actual gameplan.

Todd Heap was meant to be our Antonio Gates since he played at ASU. Realistically, he is probably the slowest player on the team and better suited to being a specialist run blocker. :(

I was going to ask you about that because profootball-reference.com has the Rams secondary listed:

Ron Bartell 6'1"
Fletcher 6'0"
King 5'11"
Dahl 6'1"
Mikell 5'10"

Cards:

Peterson 6'0
Jefferson 6'0
Marshall 5'11"
Johnson 6'0
Wilson 6'3"
Adams 5'8"

Are the heights pfr gives incorrect?

If the TE's were as talented as theirs we might. Other than Housler , I doubt we have a TE that can break 4.95 for the 40.
