Opening Day of the 2025 season brings the start of a few eras for the New York Yankees organization, both on and off the field.

How the team moves on without Juan Soto will certainly be a major storyline, but so too will be how Dave Sims will fare in replacing John Sterling after the legendary Yankees radio voice retired from the booth after 36 years.

Fans heard their first glimpse of Sims in action on Thursday afternoon as the Yankees began their defense of the American League crown. After an Austin Wells home run from the leadoff spot started off the game, Sims belted out his debut call for the Yankees from the behind the mic:

"Hey now!" Sims exclaimed as Wells gave the Yankees a quick 1-0 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers.

While it remains to be seen if Sims will continue Sterling's iconic, individualized home run calls for each player remains to be. But he and Suzyn Waldman, Sterling's longtime on-air partner, are bringing a new flavor to WFAN.
