Plot Summary

Genres: Action, Crime, Drama, Thriller
Tagline: From "The Godfather" to "Scent of a Woman".From "Raging Bull" to "Goodfellas".Two of America's celebrated superstars will finally collide.
Plot Outline A Los Angeles crime saga, "Heat" focuses on the lives of two men on opposite sides of the law - one a detective; the other a thief.
Plot Synopsis: Hunters and their prey--Neil and his professional criminal crew hunt to score big money targets (banks, vaults, armored cars) and are, in turn, hunted by Lt. Vincent Hanna and his team of cops in the Robbery/Homicide police division. A botched job puts Hanna onto their trail while they regroup and try to put together one last big 'retirement' score. Neil and Vincent are similar in many ways, including their troubled personal lives. At a crucial moment in his life, Neil disobeys the dictum taught to him long ago by his criminal mentor--'Never have anything in your life that you can't walk out on in thirty seconds flat, if you spot the heat coming around the corner'--as he falls in love. Thus the stage is set for the suspenseful ending....

Actors: Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore
Directors: Michael Mann

I just watched it. Wow, what a loaded cast. From Pacino and De Niro all the way down to Natalie Portman who was about 14 and had just done The Professional. Jeremy Piven even had a small role in there.

This was a great movie. I loved the scene where Pacino and De Niro met to have coffee. Everything about that scene was awesome. The characters (and really the actors) meeting for the first time, the dialogue, the way it was filmed. Great scene.

This is how I was guessing it would end, glad I was wrong because it would have been a little disappointing:
An ending discussed featured Neil and Vince shooting and killing each other instead of Vince shooting Neil. Mann didn't like the idea and therefore was not shot.

I remember when Heat originally came out, it must have been one of my favorite movies at the time. I probably have seen it a dozen times and I rarely watch any movie more than once.

That scene where Pacino and De Niro meet is classic. That was the first time these actors ever appeared in the same scene.

Very good movie; lived up to the hype when I finally saw it about 6 months ago.

I didn't really like this movie...it might have been the atmosphere when I watched it or the day, but I just didn't like it that much. I should watch it again someday, but it was pretty meh overall to me.

Though I loved the scene with De Niro and Pacino.

Meh.

Godfather II, one of the best movies. Rashomon, one of the best movies.

Heat? Meh. Good, not remotely great.

I remember really liking this when I first saw it. I haven't seen it in over a decade however. To be honest, I can't remember much about it. I should rewatch it when I have a few hours to kill.
