According to Howard Eskin of FOX 29 and WIP radio in Philadelphia, Andy Reid's hiring in Arizona could hit a snag if he insists on bringing along ex-Browns GM Tom Heckert in a package deal.

The Cardinals could be trying to retain VP of player personnel Steve Keim, as two outlets have reported that Heckert is not a candidate for Arizona's GM job. After a wave of afternoon reports that the Cardinals' choice of Reid is a fait accompli, the team released official word that no interview has been scheduled at this point. The sides appear to be in a stare-down over Heckert.

One really, really important word in that report:

"Could"

It basically reduces the entire thing to conjecture

Dalton (Cards VP of Pub) tweeted out that reports that Reid ans Az are 95% close are 100% wrong

Shefter just tweeted out that a Reid source said that they aren't close.

I beleive that this whole thing is basically built on an acknowledgment by someone close to Reid that he is interested in the Cards job and the Tim Ring tweet.

Not sure about Reid, but I'd love to bring in Heckert. The Browns were well on their way to being a talented and competitive football team before he got canned. Though of course, you do have to question his selections of Richardson and Weeden in the first round this year which haven't bought the immediate dividends you would expect.

Trent Richardson will be a stud, and I was somewhat impressed with Weeden at various points.

Richardson was very good all things considered.

Richardson is amazing. I would give my left nut to have him on the Cardinals.
