Michigan State hockey will play for a trip to the Big Ten Tournament championship game on Saturday evening.

The Spartans will see a familiar foe as Notre Dame comes to Munn Ice Arena for an important Big Ten Tournament semifinals matchup. This will be a third straight game against Notre Dame for the Spartans, who completed the regular season with a two-game series sweep of the Fighting Irish two weeks ago.

Notre Dame played their way into this semifinals matchup by upsetting Minnesota in a best of three series last weekend. The Fighting Irish finished in last place of the Big Ten this year, and will need to win the Big Ten Tournament to receive a bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State won all four regular season matchups between these two teams. Unlike the Fighting Irish, the Spartans are a lock for the NCAA Tournament and could potentially improve their seeding with another win in this Big Ten Tournament semifinals matchup.
