I think mocks are fun and I don't profess to be the "mock seer" of any board.

If I could have anyone within reason of their projected place on most boards....here's who I would come up with:

(1)Terrel Suggs-6'3"-265-4.6-ASU-defensive end

I wasn't sure about Freeney (Colts) last year because of his size...but Freeney had about 13 sacks....this guy is better than Freeney.....may be the best college pass rusher in the last 5 years.

(2) Bryant Johnson-6'2"-210-4.5-Penn.St.-wide receiver

This guy can really get off the ground...is getting better as a receiver...fearless over the middle and a great blocker...with his size/leaping ability and hands he'll be a red zone winner.....hopefully will develop into a #1 NFL receiver.....at least a #2.

(3) Bruce Nelson-6'4"-300-5.3-Iowa-center

From one of the best O-lines in the nation....started every game since redshirt freshman season....quick feet and can play other positions...can pass and run block...will be a starting center in the NFL.

(4) Billy McMullen-6'4-210-4.5-Virginia-wide receiver

Some said Wade (ASU) might be too high for this slot...McMullen makes as spectacular a side-line catch as you want to see....catches in traffic and is always in the game...another guy who'll give CB's fits in the red zone because of his size.

(5) Matt Wilhelm-6'4"-240-4.8-Ohio St.-linebacker

I've seen Matt play inside and out and recent workouts had himm running faster 40's.....he's a madman who never makes false steps and ranged sideline to sideline at OSU....good character guy.

(6a) Rushen Jones-5'11"-205-4.5-Vandy- defensive back

Played cornerback but has the size for safety as well....physical and intelligent....a student of the game....great open field tackler....makes few mental mistakes.

(6b) Ryan Hoag-6'2"-195-4.45-Gustavus Adolphus

Rawest prospect in the draft....but I think we have the receiving coaches who can bring this kid along....a track and soccer (did I say soccer) transfer from Wake Forest......great returner and vertical receiver that Blake will love.

(7)Ciff Washburn-6'7"-275-4.7-Citadel-defensive end

Only played one year of football (senior)...was a basketball player...very coachable and will need help with technique.....even with lousy technique he was in double figures as a sack artist in his first year of college football.

Pretty good mock Buckeye.

I really like your top two picks, but I'm starting to the think that the Cards won't take a center on day one, since we already have 3 centers (Starkey, Garcia, and Grace) and a backup that can play center in a pinch (Dishman).

I would take the best available run stuffing tackle at the third spot. Nice take with Washburn in the seventh, it's always nice to take at least one collegian from a Carolina school (the Citadel is in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina).

Why would you take Sam Williams in the third? I know he ran a 4.5, but he wasn't a particularly good player in college.....sounds like a workout warrior, and he would be a HUGE reach in the third.

I actually included Calico as a second in my mock, but the more I think about it, the more I think that would be a huge mistake, and also a huge reach.

Charles Tillman won't last until the seventh, he has too many nice tools for a corner to go that late.

Basically the only pick I like is Leftwich....

I'm not a draft-nik, so I'm not familiar with most of the talent past the middle of the second round, but why aren't you guys gunning for more CBs? Is it a weak draft once you get past Newman, Trufant and Woolfolk? It seems like we could really use an impast player opposite Starks.

Ok. So what is your plan for a pass rush if the team drafts this way?

No. In fact, it's a pretty deep draft for CB's. One problem, though, is that many of the next-level guys below Newman and Trufant are at least a year away from starting and won't help our secondary right away.

One guy to watch closely is the kid from Illinois. (The Cards have an Illinois connection of some sort re Wakefield and Young). And Eugene Wilson is described as experienced, "solid" and a guy who could step in and play right away - though less of a shutdown type and more adept at playing opposite a shutdown corner (if you could describe Starks as fitting that description. He had a 4.48 or so forty time, which in my eyes would position him as a Renaldo Hill type only faster.

Another wildcard (that's totally a product of my own imagination) is the safey Polamalu. He's run a 4.38, hits a ton and is very athletic. I'm wondering whether it would make sense to draft a guy like that and convert him to CB if he was still there at #37.

Polamalu is a terrific player. Almost surely a first rounder though. I don't think he'd get past the Raiders if he slid that far. If he was at #37 I don't think we'd take him even though I think it'd be a mistake. I think moving him to CB is out of the question, and would really be a waste of his hitting ability.

I agree. I like it very much, except for the 3rd. I think we'll take a DT in the 3rd (if we get Suggs in the first). The DT positon is so deep this year that guys that normally would be taken high in the second slips to a early-mid 3rd round pick, because teams have already adressed their need at DT.

Last year there were four players in the first group of DTs(Henderson, Bryant, Sims & Haynesworth) and three players a step behind them (Weaver, Freeman & Tripplett). (Based on War Room analysis)

This year there are seven DTs with 1st round quality and six with 2nd round quality. (Again, based on War Room analysis)
Somebody from the second group will fall to the 3rd and the Cards pick up extremly good quality for a 3rd rounder...

My bad.

Some pubs have McDonald rated higher than Wade. I've never seen them play that much but many of the guys on this board felt Shaun was too small......but he's faster than Wade and like I said rated higher by some "experts".

The Sporting News has Shaun as the 12th best receiver available and Wade as the 20th. This pub was fairly decent last year on a couple of accounts:

(1) They correctly predicted that we would select both Bryant and Fisher.

(2) They had a war room 2 page section that had just about everyone in the correct round that they actually went in.....they may have missed on Dennis Johnson because they had him as a first rounder....time will tell.

I'm not sure about their predicts this year......they have us picking Newman and Boller with our first 2 picks.....I wouldn't cry over those 2 but would hope that we would concentrate on DE and WR after that.

I have seen them both play..

If McDonald is too small, well then so is Bobby.

McDonald is faster while Wade is quicker. Ther are both playmakers, but Bobby wade brings the extra punch as a pretty good punt returner. He can make some guys miss, but as a junior had some problems catching the punts. It looke dlike he fixed that last year though.

If I had to make the choice I would pick Wade. Dennis Northcutt groomed him at UA and Wade started opposite him. Wade might not have the speed that Dennis did, but hes got a bag full of tricks and can catch the ball. He is an ideal slot guy, because he can go over the middle and make someone miss after the catch.

Now 1-3 are solid picks but after that its kind like BPA and need pick combined.

Tear me apart guys I have thick skin.

1. Terrell Suggs, DE AZ ST

2. Bryant Johnson WR Penn St.

3. Drayton Florence CB Tuskegee
5'11 194 4.45
Good corner from a small school who could fill the nickle spot and maybe push for to #2 corner this yr or next.

4. Walter Young WE Ill.
6'4 1/8 222 4.58
Tall strong and smooth receiver with really soft hands woh would make a great #3 receiver. He is why Brandon Lloyd looked so good. Young was the one always getting doubled teamed.

5. Terrance Martin DT. NC St.
6'2 1/2 295 5.15
Can play 1 or 2 gap. Mark against him is he needs to get in better shape.

6A. Dinnie Nickey S Ohio St.
6'2 1/8 212 4.54
Real good Safety overlooked becaused he played along side Doss.

6B. Sam WIlliams, Fresno St. LB
6'5 235 4.55
good size and speed. A poor mans J. Miller. Good Sleeper pick.

7. Cliff Washburn DE The Citidel
6'6 3/4 268 4.75
Could push Johnson or A. Moore for a backup role until he learns the ropes.

Guy With A Stinger

Donnie Nickey is actually overrated.

I like the Walter Young pick.
