yea just got that text too. Thats awful, what a waste of a 2nd rounder. How can they cut this guy when hes never been active for one regular season game? It couldnt have been because of injury because he had a wrist injury, its not like he blew out a knee...

If you saw enough to draft him in the second round, you need to give him one year to get back to football after an injury season.

Cody showed none of the speed he flashed as a DE in college, couldn't get off blocks & looked as though he played at 1/2 speed much of the time.

Who is our 4th OLB? Not a person in the world can make the argument that Mark Washington showed more then Cody Brown in Camp or Preseason.

We going to carry 3 and hope for Schofield half way through the season?

Big Herm should have been a G (which we have tons of), couldn't handle speed rushers up the field.

It was weird. He showed more strength then he showed in college, set the edge very well in the preseason games, but showed zero of the speed he showed in college. Almost the opposite player came to the NFL then the one we drafted.

That's my guess. Much more 4-3 instead of 3-4 will be played IMO.

Maybe he's really coming along?

Or, maybe we're planning on running a lot more 4-3 than any of us would have guessed?

Herman would have been dropped regarless IMO. To nonchalant about his weight.

Lyle, Claxton, Faneca, Lutui, Bridges, Hadnot, Bridges, Brown. That is only 8 OL that looks worth keeping. We have always kept 9 under coach Wiz does that change this year, or is there something up sleeve?

Too nonchalant about his blocks would be apply as well.

well -- you just hate seeing 2nd round picks dropped after one season. Ouch.

that being said -- at least they aren't letting the first mistake (drafting him high) force them into a second mistake (keeping him).

Big Herm shouldn't be anywhere near a NFL football field. And he might want to pull away from the buffet line every now and then too! ;)

3rd round and 2nd round picks that didn't play a regular season game for us. Ugh.

I think with Cody it was more about mental then anything else. Just didnt seem to have the fire coach looks for. Coach wouldnt have given up on a pretty much a rookie at this early stage in a pass rushers development if he saw some fire. Take Will Davis for example, he has shown just as little as Cody which is nothing this offseason but Davis shows some fire.

I think, Joe, they may be holding onto Tom Pestock. I noticed he's been on many STs even at the beginnings of games. And that's usually a good sign for players sticking.

Johnson played pretty well in preseason LAST year. But, as a tackle, he was terrible this preseason. And, he blew it with his weight.

As for OLB, I think it's a position we address with a pick up from another team's cuts.
